It's Jimmy! Late Night's Kimmel named as the host of the 2017 Oscars
Jimmy Kimmel has been named as the host of the 2017 Academy Awards.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed the news on Monday morning, after much industry speculation about who would follow last year's host, Chris Rock.
It will be the first The Late Night With Jimmy Kimmel star has fronted the awards, although he has plenty of experience at hosting.
The 49-year-old has twice hosted the Emmys, the American Music Awards on five occasions, and even the ESPYS back in 2007.
He has also regularly fronted a Jimmy Kimmel Live: After the Oscars special, which aired immediately following the awards ceremony.
The producers of the 89th Academy Awards show were named last month as Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd.
The announcement by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences came much later than usual and after widespread conjecture over who would take the reins of next year's ceremony.

Todd is president of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's Pearl Street Films. They're both first-time Oscars producers, though they were co-chairs of January's PGA Awards, put on by the Producers Guild of America.
The Oscars will take place February 26 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, and air live on ABC in the U.S.
