Helen Mirren looks super-sleek in monochrome ensemble as she steps out in New York... after insisting she'll be 'a sex symbol until she dies'

She recently talked about how her legacy as a sex symbol will stand the test of time. 

And Dame Helen Mirren certainly proved that she stepped out in New York City on Monday.

The 70-year-old proved she's still got it as she worked a monochrome ensemble of black biker-style jacket and fitted trousers.

The actress showed she can put edge and glamour into one outfit as she sported a white, sharp-collared white shirt underneath.

She elongated her curvy frame by wearing a pair of high heeled winter boots.

Gracing her arm was a black PVC coat and an animal print hand bag - adding some serious sass to her look.

Her shimmering dark blue earrings and emerald green ring injected even more class to Helen's outfit as she signed autographs for her desperate fans.

Earlier in the day, the star's glamour was a little more muted.

Helen looked pensive as she walked around in Soho, New York City and indulged in a caffeine fix.

Running errands in a grey sling bag, she teamed a semi-formal dark blue jacket and trousers with a bold pink lip.

The Hollywood legend has proven she has embraced aging in a recent interview with AARP.

'The best thing about being over 70 is being over 70,' she said. 'Certainly when I was 45, the idea of being 70 was like, "'Arghhh!" 

'But you only have two options in life: Die young or get old. There is nothing else.'

The third option Helen may have left out is get old, gracefully - and the she is doing just that. 

She has also proven she has both brains and beauty as she shared her opinions on certain issues that usually get tongues wagging.
