She was left red-faced earlier this year, when critics likened her Oscars dress to a vagina.

And Sunrise host Edwina Bartholomew, 33, suffered yet another embarrassing red carpet moment at the AACTA Awards in Sydney on Wednesday, when Hollywood actor Mel Gibson, 60, bluntly asked 'who are you?'

Viewers wasted no time hailing Hacksaw Ridge director Mel, with one Twitter user claiming the question was simply 'what all of Australia is thinking.'

'Mel Gibson just summed up what all of Australia is thinking... who the hell is Edwina Bartholomew. Even she had trouble explaining it AACTAs,' one tweet read.

'The AACTAs red carpet on Seven was brutal, but I just couldn't look away...' one user wrote.

Another drew reference to American E! News presenter Giuliana Rancic, asking: 'Watching the #AACTAs Red Carpet car crash and where's Giuliana Rancic when you need her.'

Sporting a suave tuxedo and dark shades, the actor stood just inches away with his back turned when Edwina eagerly approached him.

'Edwina, pleasure to see you,' the Channel Seven presenter said extending out her hand to which he bluntly replied: 'Who are you?' 

TV host Edwina misheard the actor and instead thought he had asked how she was.

The blonde presenter proceeded to respond with: 'I'm very, very well, how are you more to the point? You're the man of the evening'

Confused, Mel politely answered while also repeating his initial question.

'No I'm good and who are you?' he asked with sincerity in his tone.

Not one to get flustered on the red carpet, Edwina brushed off the bizarre moment and politely reintroduced herself before quickly changing the subject.

On Instagram, the former Dancing With The Stars co-host laughed off the awkward exchange and told fans that it was actually an event 'highlight' for her.

'Just a regular afternoon with @jmoconfidential ... highlights include Mel Gibson asking who the hell I was, a protest involving sausages and meeting Pippa from Home and Away. All the best bits tomorrow on @sunriseon7 and in @sydconfidential. Dress from @camillaandmarc,' she captioned a selfie.

The red carpet host for the event was also snubbed by Geoffrey Rush who walked straight past her as she tried to grab him for a chat.

Despite the blunders, the Channel Seven star looked elegant while chatting to celebrities in a fitted navy halter dress that showed off her curvy physique.

Her luscious blonde locks were swept up in a chic bun and she opted for semi-natural makeup consisting of foundation, smokey-eyes and a nude lip.

The TV journalist showed more than she bargained for while flashing her Spanx, when her elegant white frock split at her derriere.

Fortunately, a quick-thinking pal was able to sew it back together for the Channel Seven host, who laughed off the incident on Instagram.

As if all those embarrassing moments weren't enough for Edwina, earlier this year she was ridiculed for wearing a Rachel Gilbert ice blue gown with unusual detailing at the Oscars.

Instagram users instantly likened the look to a vagina but Edwina was able to find humour in the incident, which she playfully dubbed 'Vajayjaygate.'

'Hahaha I did know they might call it 'the vagina dress' and I still wore it anyway!' she proudly told Kyle and Jackie O after the show.
