'We did a lot of Drunk In Love': Katie Holmes reveals she regularly played Beyonce on set of directorial debut All We Had

Katie Holmes knows there's nothing quite like the music of Beyonce to really liven up the mood.

The actress, 37, admitted she regularly played the chart-topper's music on the set of her directorial debut, All We Had, to keep her crew's spirits lifted and as a relief from the intensity of the story line.

'This movie it's a mother daughter story and there's a lot of high emotion,' she revealed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday. 'So you need to have some fun. So we did a lot of Drunk In Love, a lot of break dances on our set.'

Be the belle of the ball in this Saint Laurent dress

Katie Holmes glammed things up for her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Clad in all black, the former Dawson's Creek star donned a Saint Laurent mini dress, tights, and stiletto pumps.

Her flirty frock gave a nod to the 60's mod trend with its short hemline and flouncy bell sleeves. And we love the ladylike bow that adorns the neckline and lace sleeves.

If you're looking for an upgrade to your basic LBD, throw in some bell sleeves and you'll be ready for this season's Holiday parties!

On repeat: The music of Beyonce was a fixture on the All We Had set

Making the atmosphere on set a positive one was a high priority for Katie.

'We had a great time, because I've been in this business luckily for 20 years now, and I love being on a happy set, and I love it when people actually value me...so I wanted to provide that for my actors,' she told the host.

All We Had is set during the worldwide financial crisis in 2008, where a single mother and her teenage daughter move to a small Midwestern town.

It's based on the novel of the same name written by Annie Weatherwax.

'They're survivors on the road,' Holmes said to Robin Roberts on Good Morning America on Tuesday.

'Sometimes Ruthie's the mom and Rita's the daughter and they're like sisters sometimes and there was this Thelma and Louise quality to them and I felt like it was just a story about humanity, healing and hopefully something that a lot of people can relate to.'

She got him! The host doubled over his desk in stitches

The Batman actress also spoke about her first time directing and acting in a movie: 'It was very exciting and powerful and challenging.

'I started prepping about a year before we started shooting and just compiling a lot of inspiration photos, watching a lot of movies and assembling my team around me.

'The whole process was just very positive and really rewarding and I worked with people that I love.'
