We started it and maintain it with old-fashioned hard work and dedication – not a drop of investment capital was used in the start up. We do not seek grants or funding from foundations. We do not accept advertising dollars from any outlet that would have even the opportunity to dictate our coverage. There is no think tank dictating our analysis.
PoliticusUSA was founded in February of 2008 by Jason Easley. Jason had a vision of a liberal and independent news site which would offer a mix politics and opinion in an unfiltered environment, not beholden to any specific political or media agenda.
We have NO corporate masters. The facts are our guide. They said this couldn’t be done, but you — our readers — have proven them wrong. PoliticusUSA is by design accessible to all levels of readers. Jason Easley: Publisher/Editor in Chief
Mr. Easley is a Senior White House and Congressional correspondent for PoliticusUSA. A lifelong lover of politics, Jason Easley is a little older than some but not as old as others. Jason spent four years as a political columnist and the politics editor at 411mania.com, where he covered such issues as the Iraq War, warrant less wiretapping, and the daily workings of the American legislative process. Jason has also written for the Blogger News Network, and saw his 2008 presidential election coverage quoted in over 300 newspapers worldwide. Jason has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. His graduate work focused on public policy, with a specialization in social reform movements. When Jason is not writing he can be found endlessly courting his girlfriend and expressing his loyal fandom for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Sarah Jones: Publisher/Managing Editor
Ms. Jones is a Senior White House and Congressional correspondent for PoliticusUSA. Since joining Politicus in February of 2009, Sarah has been quoted by Talking Points Memo, The Atlantic Wire, CNN, MSNBC, The Week, The Hollywood Reporter, The Richard Dawkins Foundation and more. Sarah co-hosts Politicus Radio with Jason Easley and is the political correspondent for KPTR 1450’s California Woman 411, hosted by Dee Jae Cox. Sarah is an award-winning producer with a background in TV/Film (TV host, news anchor, producer & writer) and a member of the Screen Actors Guild/AFTRA and SPJ. Sarah graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a major in Psychology & minor in Latin. She spends her free time cursing her ballet instructor.

Hrafnkell Haraldsson: Senior Editor PoliticusUSA/Senior Columnist
Hrafnkell Haraldsson, a social liberal with leanings toward centrist politics has degrees in history and philosophy. His interests include, besides history and philosophy, human rights issues, freedom of choice, religion, and the precarious dichotomy of freedom of speech and intolerance. He brings a slightly different perspective to his writing, being that he is neither a follower of an Abrahamic faith nor an atheist but a polytheist, a modern-day Heathen who follows the customs and traditions of his Norse ancestors. He maintains his own blog, A Heathen’s Day, which deals with Heathen and Pagan matters, and Mos Maiorum Foundation www.mosmaiorum.org, dedicated to ethnic religion. He has also contributed to NewsJunkiePost, GodsOwnParty and Pagan+Politics.
Rmuse: Senior Opinion Columnist/Editor
An audio engineer and instructor for SAE living in California. Writes op/ed commentary supporting Secular Humanist causes, and exposing suppression of women, the poor, and minorities. An advocate for freedom of religion and particularly, freedom of NO religion. Born in the South, raised in the mid-west and California for a well-rounded view of America, and it doesn’t look good. Married, four adult children, a former minister, and lifelong musician.
Sean Colarossi: Editor
Sean Colarossi was born and raised in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio, where he currently lives. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and has been obsessed with politics since grade school. He was an organizing a fellow for both of President Obama’s presidential campaigns and worked with Planned Parenthood as an Affordable Care Act Outreach Organizer in 2014, helping northeast Ohio residents obtain health insurance coverage.
Through his work as a writer and activist, Sean has held onto his deep belief that government and political action can be used to better people’s lives. Elections matter.
In his free time, you can find him roaming the aisles of a local bookstore or taking in a baseball game at Progressive Field, where the Cleveland Indians will – he promises – win it all next year.
Keith Brekhus: Political News Correspondent
Keith Brekhus is a political activist and a writer who currently lives in Red Lodge, Montana. He has a Master’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Missouri at Columbia. Ms. Woodbury is the Senior legal analyst for PoliticusUSA. Adalia comes to Politicus with a background in politics and law. After completing her B.A. in political science, Adalia went abroad to pursue her graduate degree in the same field, with law as her minor. Her specialty is political theory. She spent several years doing legal research. Her published work, prior to joining Politicus USA includes an article for Human Rights Brief. She is also is the owner and publisher of her blog, Nuts and Dolts. Adalia’s primary interests are advocating for civil rights and combating hate speech. Adalia, her husband and their Corgi kid, live in Washington, D.C.
Bill Day: Editorial Cartoonist
Bill Day’s award-winning cartoons are syndicated in more than 900 newspapers worldwide four times a week through CagleCartoons.com syndication service. Day has won the Green Eyeshade Award from the Society of Professional Jounnalists six times–in 2010, 2009, 2006, 2005, 2001, and 2000. The recipient of two Robert F. Kennedy Awards–2010 and 1985. He has also been honored with the National Headliner Award, the John Fischetti Award, the National Cartoonists Society’s Reubin Award for Best Editorial Cartoons, The James Aronson Award for Social Justice Journalism, and a host of many other awards.
Day began his career in 1980 with the Philadelphia Bulletin. He has also worked for the Detroit Free Press and the Memphis Commercial Appeal. In 2009 he was laid off at The Commercial Appeal. Bill won three national awards the following year.
Bill and his wife Susan have three teenage sons, Sam-20, Robby-17, and Zack-16.
Tim from LA: Contributing Writer
Tim, born and raised in Los Angeles, struggled in school from K-12, but blossomed after attending East Los Angeles Community College after taking Asian American Studies and journalism as well as listening to Rush (the band). This odd combination of writing, history and music helped create his desire and love for writing as well as leading him down the path of liberalism. This path also included building relationships with the most unlikely group of people who are generally conservative, but trust his reporting integrity and that is the Los Angeles Police Department.
Tim received his bachelors and masters in business and is also an atheist member DRUUMM (Diverse and Revolutionary Unitarian Universalist, Multicultural Ministries) of the Unitarian Universalist Denomination, a liberal church organization. Tim uses his writing and educational skills to promote not only equality but equity, justice, peace and love. Tim is also involved in the civil rights aspect of his church and started a group to keep law enforcement accountable. Since he knows the lifestyle and colloquialism of law enforcement, The relationship as a reporter as well as friend is close, yet unbiased.
