Lena Headey - famed for her role as Cersei Lannister on Game Of Thrones - has also been given recognition for her role on the show, pitching her against fellow Brits Thandie Newton (Westworld) and Charlotte Rampling (London Spy).
Lily Collins, who received Best Actress nod in the Motion Picture Musical or Comedy category for Rules Don't Apply, took to Instagram to share a shot of herself crying at the news.
Next to the image, which showed her covering her mouth as she shed tears, the Surrey-born beauty wrote: 'The moment your mom captures you being nominated for your first Golden Globe. Priceless. I still can't breathe.'
Vying: The Night Manager's Hugh Laurie will be competing in TV's supporting actor category
One feels honoured: Claire Foy, seen with her co-star Jared Harris, has been nominated for her portrayal of a young Queen Elizabeth II in acclaimed TV series The Crown
'Beyond honored, thankful, and proud,' the daughter of veteran rocker Phil Collins added. 'This can't be real!'
And while UK stars put represented strongly in the TV categories, they also did well in film, with Hugh Grant (Florence Foster Jenkins), Dev Patel (Lion) and American-born, Surrey-raised Andrew Garfield (Hacksaw Ridge) getting Best Actor nods.
Oxbridge-educated Bond beauty Naomie Harris (Moonlight) and Aaron Taylor Johnson (Nocturnal Animals) were also among those hailing from British shores getting acting nominations.
Out of this world: Thandie Newton has received a Best Actress nod for her role in the popular new TV show Westworld
The nominations were announced on Monday, with musical La La Land - led by Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling - picked up nods in almost all major film categories outside the Drama nominees.
The film picked up acting nominations for its leads Stone and Gosling in the Musical Or Comedy categories, as well as Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Director for Damien Chazelle, Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score, and Best Song.
Other big nominees include Moonlight (six nominations), Manchester by the Sea (five nominations) and TV movie The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story (five nominations).
Ice queen: Lena Headey's turn as Cersei Lannister on ratings juggernaut Game Of Thrones will see her vying for a Best Actress trophy in January
Veteran actress: Charlotte Rampling has earned a nod for her lauded turn in London Spy
La La Land harks back to Tinseltown's golden era of big musicals, with Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling playing an odd couple who find themselves house-sitting after a string of personal disasters and swept the board at the Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday.
The list of potential winners were revealed at dawn in Beverly Hills by Don Cheadle, Laura Dern and Anna Kendrick and are decided by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).
This year's nominations break tradition and come before those of the revered Screen Actors Guild, making the Golden Globes nods the biggest indicator of you will be up for Hollywood's most-sought after prize, the Academy Award.
The 74th Golden Globe Awards will air live from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills on Sunday, January 8 and will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon.
