Is Tracy Grimshaw leaving ACA? A Current Affair host 'considering a move to radio to pursue more serious journalism'

She's been hosting A Current Affair for the past ten years. 

And sources close to Tracy Grimshaw say she's ready for a change - to radio. 

The presenter has one year left on her contract with Nine, and is seeking to forge a new career which would allow her greater autonomy in her work and give her more time at home, according to Woman's Day

Friends of the 56-year-old told the magazine she has been talking about the move 'for ages'.

'She's stayed on top in TV for decades but now has other priorities,' the source explained. 

'One is to break into radio, which would allow her to return to more serious journalism, which is important to her.'

It is rumoured that the presenter would be happy to leave TV while she's at the height of her career, and would hope to present a news/talk show.

An insider told Woman's Day she wants to have more control over the direction of her work, something she cannot get as host of ACA, but could have in radio.

An insider also remarked Tracy's retirement from the screen could solve an issue the network is currently facing.

'It would solve the problem of Karl Stefanovic, who everyone knows wants out of Today at some point,' they said.

'He's one of the few who could fill her shoes.' 

Former 2UE and 2GB executive Peter Brennan backed the idea of Tracy's move, and said she had 'many of the qualities that would make her a great talk show host'.

'She certainly has the life experience, and many people relate to her,' he explained.

Daily Mail Australia have contacted Channel Nine and Tracy Grimshaw for comment.
