But the 38-year-old singer reveals that ageing has given her a clearer perspective on life and helped her beat her demons.
Speaking to FEMAIL about beating the pressure she once felt to lose weight, Nicole said: 'As you get older you get a better perspective on things and I eventually learnt not to put so much pressure on myself and not to cave to other people's expectations.'
Nicole Scherzinger, 38, who is the first-ever face of Perfectil, has revealed how she beat the pressure put on her by others to lose weight as she stars in a stunning beauty campaign for the vitamin brand
The star continued: 'You have to learn to love yourself, and accept yourself, and not give so much weight to what other people think.'
Nicole says that balance is 'everything' for her, and she loves to exercise because it gives her a 'natural high'.
The natural beauty also revealed that she doesn't feel any pressure to maintain her youthful looks - an attitude she has developed as she's matured.
She said: 'There can be so much pressure on women and girls to look a certain way and when I was younger I was quite insecure; I would spend so much time comparing myself to other people and picking myself apart in the mirror.
'But, as I've got older, I've realised that nobody's perfect and I've learnt to just embrace my flaws and love who am I and the way I look. I think, for most people, confidence grows with age – and if you're happy and you're confident then you just naturally look and feel more beautiful, and it doesn't matter how old you are.'

She's normally one for an edgy outfit with 90s vibes, or if it's eveningwear we're talking about a skin-tight jumpsuit or plunging gown... but we love this soft and romantic pretty pink dress on Nicole Scherzinger!
The ballerina-esque tulle skirt gives it a real feminine look and the soft layers lend an ethereal edge. As it's by BCBGMAXAZRIA though, we're not surprised there's also a surprising twist to the design thanks to the statement cut-out detail.
Pink tulle isn't for everyone but Nicole proves how stylish it can look. And if it's not normally your aesthetic, try throwing a biker jacket over the top to add an edgy contrast!
Nicole's exact dress isn't available but you can still buy it in black (click right). Alternatively, get the look with our pink ladies below from Frock and Frill, Needle & Thread and Little Mistress.
That is exactly why vitamin brand Perfectil has snapped the star up to be its first-ever face - and Nicole couldn't be more thrilled to work with a brand that aligns with her health beliefs.
Speaking about her latest role, she said: 'I'm a big believer in beauty from within and overall wellbeing. I try to eat well and sleep as much as I can (though with my schedule that's not always easy!) – and I think beauty supplements play a big part in that.
'What you put inside your body has such a huge effect on the way you feel and the way you look.
'I've been taking their tablets for years and I recently added the collagen drinks to my routine. When I take it I find that my nails grow longer, my hair looks healthier and my skin is more radiant.'
The athletic star also swears by working out for boosting her physical and mental health and loves Psycle, bikram yoga and jogging, which help her 'zone out'
As well as the vitamins, Nicole swears by starting the day with a 'really good breakfast' like an omelette or boiled eggs, avocado and smoked salmon, and she loves sushi for lunch and dinner.
Where possible, she tries to avoid sugar and caffeine and plumps for jasmine tea rather than coffee, but treats herself with 'a few chocolate covered almonds.'

As well as celebrating a magnificent victory for her X Factor contestant Matt Terry at Wembley on Sunday evening, Nicole is preparing to voice a character in the new Disney film Moana.
She explained: 'It's set in Polynesia and, because of my Hawaiian heritage, it's a project I'm really proud to be involved in. I've also just finished shooting my first-ever lead role in a movie – a remake of Dirty Dancing, which comes out next year to mark the 30th anniversary of the original.
'I am also currently working on a top-secret music project, which I can't say too much about at the moment except that I'm incredibly excited – so watch this space!'
