Young love: X Factor lovebirds Emily Middlemas, 18, and Ryan Lawrie, 20, proved they are still going strong as they left the final of the ITV1 show at London's Wembley Arena on Sunday

Emily - who narrowly missed out on a place in The X Factor final after being eliminated from the competition during last weekend's semi-final - looked lovely in a gold mini-skirt and cream leather biker jacket.

The aspiring singer teamed her trendy outfit with simple silver lace-up trainers and accessorised with gold jewellery.

Emily wore her long brunette locks in loosely-tousled curls and accentuated her pretty features with natural make-up.

Ryan - who finished in sixth place in the competition -  teamed a light grey sports jacket with matching ripped jeans and a white tee.

The love factor: Looking happier than ever as they emerged from the live show, the cute couple were both grinning from ear-to-ear as they headed home for the evening

The pair first caught each other's eye on the Glasgow music scene four years ago, but Emily's nerves stopped them from initially dating.

They were forced to 'fast-forward' their relationship when the final 12 X Factor contestants moved into a shared £3.6 million home in north London to facilitate rehearsal time - but the couple are not allowed to share a room.

The couple have even spoken about marriage, admitting they are 'super strong'.

When asked if she will marry Ryan, Emily told The Sun in a recent interview: 'Yeah, we are so strong and we have bonded and just got stronger over the past four years.

Emily even said 'of course!' when she was asked if Simon Cowell will be invited to their wedding.

She added: 'He was really supportive of me and Ryan and said to me that he thinks Ryan is a really nice boy. '
