Altogether now: The cast and crew of American Crime Story: The People V. OJ Simpson also won Best Movie Made For Television or Limited Series

Courtney, 56, looked dapper as he was honored for playing OJ Simpson's attorney Johnny Cochran.

The programme triumphed once again as it later won Best Movie Made For Television or Limited Series.

Sterling K Brown also won Best Supporting Actor in a Movie Made for Television or Limited Series.

The FX series led the way with most wins with four as they had six nods overall.

Crowning moment: The 41-year-old actress Sarah stunned in a white number with pearls all over it as she accepted the prize for her portrayal of prosecutor Marcia Clark

Prosecution: Sarah was presnted the award by co-star Sterling K. Brown, as he was a winner himself taking home the Best Supporting Actor in a Movie Made for Television or Limited Series gong

Touching: Courtney, 56, looked dapper as he was honored for playing OJ Simpson's attorney Johnny Cochran. He thanked his mother with ALS and his wife Angela Bassett

American Crime Story was a limited series that focused on the infamous OJ Simpson murder trial of the mid-Nineties.

One of the breakout hits of 2016 was Atlanta and the creator and lead actor of the series, Donald Glover, was also recognized for his efforts.

The 33-year-old actor accepted the gong for Best Actor in a Comedy Series as he said: 'Thank you guys so much I really was not expecting this because the category had so many actors I admire.'

Honored: The 33-year-old actor accepted the gong for Best Actor in a Comedy Series as he said: 'Thank you guys so much I really was not expecting this because the category had so many actors I admire'

Excited: The rapper and actor was given the award by actress Rachel Bloom

The FX series was at the centre of a bit of controversy as Donald's castmate Lakeith Stanfield pulled a Kanye West after Silicon Valley, and not his show, won.

The 25-year-old - who also goes by just Keith - decided to collect the Best Comedy Series Award despite his FX program not making the cut on Sunday night.

The actor and rapper - who was comically dressed in a captain's hat - managed to beat Silicon Valley's executive producer Tom Lassally to the microphone.

The star - who also goes by just Keith - said: 'I want to thank everyone for honouring us in this way.

Whoops: The FX series was at the centre of a bit of controversy as Donald's castmate Lakeith Stanfield pulled a Kanye West after Silicon Valley, and not his show, won

Eyes on the prize: The actor and rapper - who was comically dressed in a captain's hat - managed to beat Silicon Valley's executive producer Tom Lassally to the microphone

'We worked very hard on Silicon Valley and here we are. Thank you.'

Though Game Of Thrones is currently busy filming it earned one of the highest honors of the night with a win in the Best Drama Series category.

It was a big night for HBO as Evan Rachel Wood won Best Actress in a Drama Series as Thandie Newton took home Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for their work on Westworld.

Bob Odenkirk won Best Actor in a Drama Series for his work in Better Call Saul.

The West was won: Evan Rachel Wood was given Best Actress in a Drama Series for her work on Westworld

Better call him: Bob Odenkirk won Best Actor in a Drama Series for his work in Better Call Saul

Legend: John Lithgo won the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series gong for his work on Netflix series The Crown

Transformative performance: Louie Anderson took home the Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy prize for his role in Baskets

Saturday Night Live also had a big night as Kate McKinnon won Best Actress in a Comedy Series while Alec Baldwin took home Best Guest Performer in a Comedy Series for his work lampooning President Elect Donald Trump.

The event was hosted by comedic actor TJ Miller as many wonder if he would continue hosting the gig after an alleged incident.

As the Silicon Valley star was arrested earlier this week after a run-in with an Uber driver, many wondered if he would address the incident on-stage.

Interesting match: Bella Thorne and Jesse Tyler Ferguson were two of the presenters

Making a Big Bang: Actor Jim Parsons was among the presenters from television

Dynamic duo: The Walking Dead star Steven Yeun was joined by Kylie Bunbury as they presented an award

During the opening monologue he did repeatedly say he was going to address 'the elephant in the room' but it was never that alleged run-in as he deflected to jokes about Donald Trump and even performed a choreographed dance.

Despite the number, the monologue did feel a bit off-beat with the funniest gag being his background dancers mimicking his every move as he performed his bits.

The first presenter of the night was Justin Timberlake who even poked fun at the interesting opening segment by joking: ''How about TJ's monologue? it made so much sense.'

Man of the hour: TJ Miller was host of the show after his arrest earlier this week

Showing off: He came out in an interesting outfit as his body was painted

Back-up plan: After doing a dance number TJ told some interesting jokes

Altogether now: His backing dancers mimicked his moves during his monologue

First man: TJ later dressed up as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in a gag

Having a blast: Natalie Portman portrayed the former Fist Lady  in the film Jackie as she had a laugh during the gag

Chopped: TJ ended the show with his head on a platter
