Independent woman: Newly-engaged Pixie ensured she stole the spotlight as she attended the awards without her beau Oliver Cheshire in tow

The Mama Do singer first turned the heads on the red carpet in her floor-length gown, which was decorated all over with chunky silver sequins.

Featuring a thin mesh section at the top, the dress gave a sexy glimpse of her decolletage before it extended down into its striking vertical shimmering stripes.

Adding a further chic element to the look, Pixie layered a chunky black belt on top at her middle, to cinch in and enhance her enviably petite waist.

Wild thing: The singer glammed up the look by styling her blonde locks into big and bold curls - drawing attention to her dewy make-up stunning features

While she kept accessorises minimal to maintain focus on the show-stopping dress, the singer glammed up the look by styling her blonde locks into big and bold curls - drawing attention to her dewy make-up stunning features.

Carrying a tiny black box bag and of course, sporting her new engagement rock on her finger, Pixie oozed confidence as she playfully held her skirt out for the cameras.

The singer appeared to fly solo at the event - leaving her new fiancé Oliver Cheshire behind for her night on the town.

After dating the blonde for more than six years, the male model popped the question outside St Paul's Cathedral last month.

Pixie exclaimed it was the 'biggest surprise ever' as she showed off a dazzling diamond ring on Instagram, adding simply in the photo's caption: 'so happy.'

Talking on the red carpet about the emotional moment, the blonde beauty exclusively told MailOnline: 'It's still sinking in because I wasn't expecting it!'

'I just burst into tears [when it happened]. I was so tired and jet lagged as I'd just got back from LA and we'd been at a wedding party the night before... I'd had no sleep, so I just burst into tears, for once I was speechless! My mascara went everywhere.'

Having shown off her ring in excitement, the Essex native did admit that she is very cautious with her new sparkler, due to her often forgetful personality.

She explained: 'I'm getting used to wearing this ring - it was actually too big and I had to get it resized three times, but now I can wear it and I don't want to take it off because I lose everything, and I'm worried I'll lose it. That would be very bad.'

However while the pair are still celebrating their upcoming union, the Boys and Girls crooner admits they have not yet started planning the nuptials themselves.

Still in shock: Talking on the red carpet about the emotional moment, the blonde beauty exclusively told MailOnline: ' It's still sinking in because I wasn't expecting it!'

She confessed: 'I really haven't gone into plans yet. Next year's going to be super busy with new music and other stuff and I don't want to rush because it I want it to be absolutely perfect.'

Although she did add that she did not want to wait too long to marry her handsome beau: 'If I don't get time to do it then it'll definitely by 2018 for sure.'

Mirroring Pixie's eye-catching style in time for the holiday season was Fearne Cotton, who hit the carpet next in a daring scarlet ensemble.

The former Radio 1 host looked classically glamorous in the one-shoulder number, which was formed entirely of a bright red glittery material.

Cutting out at one side and extending into a sleeve on the other, the frock then skimmed and flattered her slim figure straight down to the floor.

Keeping thoroughly co-ordinated, Fearne then paired the glamorous outfit with matching shoes, which featured thin straps to give a glimpse of one of her many trademark tattoos.

Natural beauty: The author left her hair in simple blonde waves and sported fresh make-up and soft brown shadow - to let the glistening dress do all the talking

Also matching the colour of the carpet at the event was singer Emeli Sande, who kept things sophisticated and demure in an unusual roll neck gown.

The dress appeared to be of a knitted material, featuring a wintry high neckline just a single seam down the middle as decoration.

However despite its loose fit the frock still managed to flatter her womanly curves, by perfectly hugging her ample chest before cascading to the floor in a waterfall hem.

Young star Zara Larsson was next to arrive - showing off her kooky style in a metallic mini dress layered on top of a crisp striped shirt.

The Swedish beauty, 18, was not afraid to bare the flesh in the thigh-skimming mini dress of shimmering charcoal which hugged her enviably slender frame.

However making the look more high-fashion and on trend was the pinstriped blue shirt underneath - which she pulled into a plunging, off-shoulder style to show off her golden skin and tease at her cleavage.

Maintaining the trendy feel throughout, the pop sensation accessorised with a chunky diamanté choker and swept her hair into a cute high bun, which left a few soft strands loose to frame her face.

With her clear and glowing complexion clear for all to see, Zara admitted that her naturally gorgeous skin was simply down to good genes rather than a specific beauty regime.

She told MailOnline at the event: 'My mum always had perfect skin, my sisters got perfect skin. She never uses make up, but I had acne for a while, I was needing antibiotics and everything. I had to use a lot of creams - I still do.

Also discussing her ever-growing music career, the blonde gushed that 2016 has been 'huge' but that she feels she's established her place in the European industry.

She said: 'I like that Europe's got my back when I walk into offices in America, because I know America didn't like Lush Life - they were too late to hop on the train and look how lush life blew up.'

Before adding on her bigger goals: 'My dream is to really make it in America because if you make it there you make it everywhere.'

All black everything: Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman looked her usual sartorial self as she giggled on the carpet

Exciting night: Taking place at ExCel London, the BBC Music Awards, hosted by Gemma Cairney, Fearne and Claudia (L-R) celebrates the best in popular music from the last 12 months

Following on was Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman, who looked her usual sartorial self as she giggled on the carpet.

The mother-of-three looked sensational in a classic LBD, which featured vintage-style lace sleeves and a soft pleated hem.

She kept things low-key by adding black pointed stilettos, and added a slick of pale pink lip gloss for a subtle hint of colour as she arrived to host the prestigious ceremony.

Musical icon Lulu then shook things up by ditching the traditional dress for a more androgynous look as she made her arrival.

The Scottish crooner elongated her lithe legs with a set of 1970s-style black flares, paired with chunky heeled ankle boots.

Adding a splash of colour, the Call Me hitmaker then layered a satin jacket on top of vibrant red, which featured an unusual 'G' print all over.

Maintaining her usual quirky style throughout, Lulu sported the jacket on top of a Bob Marley logo tee, paying tribute to her own favourite musicians, and a black fedora.

Fooling around: The blonde put on a cheeky display as she laughed on the carpet with fellow guests, before making her way in to celebrate the latest generation of music

A hint of skin: Izzy Bizu looked sensational in a slashed black number

Doing it for the boys at the bash however was a typically cool Craig David, who is up for nomination in the Radio 1 Live Lounge Performance of the Year category.

The Seven Days crooner kept things casual in a sporty bomber jacket of beige and grey suede, layered over a plain white T-shirt.

Trendy: Doing it for the boys at the bash however was a typically cool Craig David, who is up for nomination in the Radio 1 Live Lounge Performance of the Year category

Suited and booted: Joining him was John Legend (L) and Rick Astley (R) who both opted for the smarter option of traditional suits - but with John jazzing his up with its wine colour

Adding bright white lace-up boots and sporting a freshly trimmed beard, the hunk looked as handsome as ever as he coolly posed on the carpet in his effortless look.

Matt Goss also attended the event in a more striking look of a white suit jacket and waistcoat, red leather trousers and black trainers.

Things may have been slightly awkward for the singer, as his rumoured flame Rebecca Ferguson followed on the carpet soon after.

However the Bros singer was quick to shoot down any romance claims, as he admitted the former X Factor star was 'lovely' but that he is still single.

On the market: Matt Goss was quick to shoot down romance claims, as he admitted to MailOnline that rumoured flame Rebecca Ferguson was 'lovely' but that he is still single

Talking to MailOnline on the carpet about the speculation, he said:  'That just took on a life of its own. I know Rebecca, we spoke today and she's lovely.'

'But I'm single and the good thing is it's a nice feeling when you meet someone, especially as lovely as Rebecca, and you talk, but that happens at our pace and not anyone else's.'

Atop his love life, Matt discussed his new music - after releasing new single Gone Too Long - when he was grilled if he would be putting out new music with Bros.

High praise: Talking of the former X Factor star, who was at the same event in a chic black skirt and jacket co-ord, he said: 'I know Rebecca, we spoke today and she's lovely'

He told MailOnline: 'First things first, it's taken so long to get us on stage. I've got to be very diplomatic with what I say so I just wanna get on stage with my brother, get these arena shows done and then see how we go.'

Adding to the male guest list was rocker Adam Lambert - who jazzed up the traditional suit look with a purple acid wash tailored ensemble.

Having placed second on American Idol back in 2009, the rocker has since garnered a following in the UK after touring with rock legends Queen.

Ready to rock: Adam Lambert gave his suit a punky edge with its acid wash purple print

Speaking on the carpet about his close friend Brian May, who recently cancelled his solo tour due to 'persistent illness', the singer confirmed the iconic guitarist was getting back on track.

He said: 'I spoke to him the other night and he's in great spirits. He's so excited for potentially doing more performances next year, I can't really say much more than that but he's in a really good place.'

Not the only big British name Adam has mingled with however, he also gushed excitedly about recently meeting Robbie Williams - who has been calling the young rock singer 'beautiful' for years.

Making a name: Having placed second on American Idol back in 2009, the rocker has since garnered a following in the UK after touring with rock legends Queen

The singer explained of their meeting in Australia: 'I had heard things about Robbie for years, about how amazing he was and how lovely he was.'

'We finally got a chance to meet and we instantly hit it off, he's such a cool guy. He was talking to me about his wife and child and I think we're gonna try and hang out in LA. I wanna meet his baby!'

Having toured all over the world across the duration of the year, as well as making an appearance in Fox's Rocky Horror Picture Show, it is no wonder that the Indiana native is ready for some much-needed rest this Christmas.

Leggy ladies: Jo Whiley (L) and Rebecca Ferguson (R) both flashed some skin in thigh-skimming mini dresses

He laughed: 'I'm gonna go home and chill the hell out. I've been working all year, I've been touring, I've been traveling, so I'm gonna go home chill with friends and family and try and absorb 2016 because it was kind of a crazy year.'

Taking place at ExCel London, the BBC Music Awards celebrates the best in popular music from the last 12 months.

A whole host of British greats, including Adele, Coldplay, Craig David and Calvin Harris are all up for gongs at the star-studded event this year.

Not shy: Jonas Blue shook up the traditional male style in a woven blazer of several different tribal and floral prints

Stunning: Kyla dazzled in a sequinned dress and bomber combo (L) while Izzy Bizu rocked a more modern gown with a funky asymetric cut out across the front

Painting the town red (and blue and yellow): Radio 1 presenter Clara Amfo hit the carpet in an arty paint-splattered white midi skirt and suede red court shoes
