Bold front! Emmy Rossum bares her cleavage in sparkling sequined dress at the Critics' Choice Awards
Emmy Rossum may not have been nominated for a Critics' Choice Award when they were held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica on Sunday.
And she was certainly a showstopper when she sauntered across the blue carpet ahead of the ceremony.
The 30-year-old looked exquisite in a dress with a neckline that bared not only a healthy dose of cleavage, but also a good deal of her enviably flat midriff.
Dazzling smile: Emmy Rossum was a showstopper on the blue carpet ahead of the Critics' Choice Awards when they were held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica on Sunday
Framing that neckline were strips of fabric strewn with sequins, with blue and pink streaks clashing against a black field.
Halfway down the bust began a bit of almost invisible clear fabric that stretched between the sequined sections of the outfit.
At the waist, the dress went solid black and fell to just above the ankle, allowing for a full view of her baroquely embossed black stilettos.
Man of the hour: On her arm at the event was Sam Esmail, who's not only her fiancé but also the creator of the series Mr Robot, nominated for three awards that evening
Take the plunge in Emmy's Armani dress
Pause. Let's take a moment to give Emmy Rossum credit for accomplishing the impossible. She pulled off a look this evening at the Critics Choice Awards that was daring and sexy yet equal parts demure and elegant-- a nexus that is notoriously hard to achieve.
But then again, we wouldn't expect anything less from the geniuses at Giogio Armani who created this custom-made number for the brunette beauty.
We love the unfussy cut of the sequined neckline that plunges to Emmy's waistline before falling into a full midi length skirt made of sumptuous velvet for a sophisticated finish.
A dress like Emmy's is perfect for black tie affairs and upscale cocktail parties if you're looking to ensure that all eyes are on your. Sadly, hers was a bespoke creation but that doesn't mean we can't get the next best thing with our high-street edit in the carousel below.
Her hair was slicked back severely and trammelled into a high ponytail, showcasing her glistening drop earrings.
On her arm at the event was Sam Esmail, who's not only her fiancé but also the creator of the series Mr Robot.
The science fiction drama programme had wrangled itself three nominations at the awards ceremony, including one for Best Drama.
When you got it: The 30-year-old looked exquisite in a dress with a neckline that bared not only a healthy dose of cleavage, but also a good deal of her enviably flat midriff
For the event, the 39-year-old impresario behind the series had popped on a simple charcoal suit with a black tie and white dress shirt.
The Shameless star managed to squeeze in a bit of networking on the blue carpet as well, standing for a photo alongside Michelle Williams.
Williams, her platinum blonde hair perfectly coiffed, had donned a grey and black dress with a slit so high her black knickers were slightly visible.
Sparkling: Framing that neckline were strips of fabric strewn with sequins, with blue and pink streaks clashing against a black field
Once inside the event, she wound up sharing a table with Mr Robot star Rami Malek, who'd cut a dapper figure in a green velour suit and brown tie.
After enjoying a chat standing up, they sat close to one another, sandwiching Portia Doubleday - also a Mr Robot cast member - between them.
Doubleday, her hair falling free, had got on a black outfit splattered with glittering angular silver designs.

The Critics' Choice Awards nominees and winners are selected by members of The Broadcast Film Critics Association.
The BFCA has approximately 250 members - comprised of critics working in television, radio and online media.
They have been conducting the Critics' Choice awards since 1995 and are considered to represent most fully - out of awards handed out by film critics - the general public's taste.

The awards show is often seen as one of the best indicators for how films will fare in awards season.
Over the last 10 years, eight of the Best Picture winners have gone on to take the same accolade at the Academy Awards.
From the years 2000 to 2013 the Critics' Choice Awards' pick for Best Picture also saw these films crowned at the Oscars: 12 Years a Slave (2013), Argo (2012), The Artist (2011), The Hurt Locker (2009), Slumdog Millionaire (2008), No Country for Old Men (2007), The Departed (2006), The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003), Chicago (2002), A Beautiful Mind (2001), Gladiator (2000).
Having a chat: Once inside, she stopped for a conversation with Mr Robot star Rami Malek
While for Best Actor the Critics' Choice named 12 out of the 13 Oscar winners during that same span of years.
The annual awards ceremony also predicted, by choosing its own champions, eight Best Actress winners at the Oscars in that 13 year stretch.
The 22nd annual ceremony was held at the Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport in Los Angeles and was hosted by comedic actor TJ Miller.
