Are Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi moving to Australia? Talk show host and actress 'looking at properties in Victoria to relocate to over Christmas'

Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi are reportedly relocating to Australia over Christmas.

NW magazine claims the Hollywood couple are looking for a place on the Mornington Peninsula in the former Ally McBeal actress's home state of Victoria.

According to the publication,  the pair are eager to escape the spotlight over the holiday period, and have chosen to travel Down Under after Ellen 'fell in love' with Australia following a trip with her wife in March 2013.

A friend of the couple told the magazine they would be spending at least two weeks down under, and were looking at purchasing a house. 

'Ellen gets two weeks off from her show over the holidays and they're planning to spend the break in Australia,' they said. 

'They'll be looking at properties too, as they both really want to buy a place there... Ellen knows how much Portia misses Australia.'  

During her trip to the country three years ago, Ellen told an audience of 3,000 she was going to make the move.

'I shouldn't put it out there but I can see us living here one day,' she said.

'I'm moving here, it's so beautiful.'  

The smitten couple tied the knot in August 2008 during an intimate LA ceremony.

After their nuptials Ellen, 58, revealed she was happier than ever:

She said: 'What can I say? I'm the luckiest girl in the world. She's officially off the market. No one else gets her. And now she'll cook and clean for me.'

The pair also discussed starting a family, with Portia saying: We go back and forth. I don't know if it's our immediate future. It's something we talk about every few months.'

'It's something we would never take lightly and just say, "That would be fun." It's a lot of work and we recognize that,' Ellen added.

'In a way, we want to be selfish because we love our life, but we know how much that adds to it.'

She concluded: 'If they would be as pretty as Brad and Angelina's kids, we might.'

Recently Ellen told People magazine that she was most grateful for 'the love in my life' Portia.

The star also shot down any rumours there is trouble in the couple's marriage: 'I'm not going anywhere. She's not going anywhere,' she said.

Ellen, who tied the knot with the 43-year-old Australian actress in 2008, gushed: 'I can’t imagine not being married.

'I have my best friend, the person I want to spend time with more than anybody else in the world. Not everybody finds that.

'I'm grateful for everything. I’m grateful for my health, and I’m so grateful for the love in my life.'

The star said she never takes their her relationship with the Scandal star for granted.

'Portia and I constantly say to each other, "We are so lucky." Sometimes it’s lying in bed at night before I go to sleep, and I just say thank you to whatever, whoever is out there,' Ellen added.

'I’ve gotten to a place where I really am just settled. Really. I know that I’m not going anywhere. She’s not going anywhere. I’m not saying the relationship took a while; I’m saying in my life, it took a while to find this.'

The couple, who don't have children, live in Los Angeles with their three dogs and three cats. And they strive to put their marriage first, despite their busy careers.
