EXCLUSIVE: 'I don't want to take it off!': Newly-engaged Pixie Lott gushes about her huge diamond sparkler... but admits she is not rushing to plan wedding to Oliver Cheshire

She is entering 2017 as an engaged woman, after her long-term boyfriend Oliver Cheshire popped the question last month.

But Pixie Lott admitted exclusively to MailOnline at the BBC Music Awards that she still can't believe she is getting married - and doesn't want to rush the exciting process of planning the nuptials.

The 25-year-old singer confessed that the moment he got down on one knee had left her 'speechless', and that she now never wants to take off her sparkling ring.

Smitten: The 25-year-old singer confessed that the moment Oliver (above) got down on one knee had left her 'speechless' - but that she does not want to rush planning the wedding

Male model Oliver, 28, asked for the singer's hand in marriage last month in front of London's stunning St Paul's Cathedral.

Talking on the red carpet about the emotional moment, the blonde beauty exclusively told MailOnline that she still has not fully processed that Oliver is now her fiancé, claiming: 'It's still sinking in because I wasn't expecting it!'

The Cry Me Out singer went on to explain that her surprise was heightened by the fact that she was fresh off a long and tiring flight from LA when it happened.

In shock: Talking on the red carpet about the emotional moment, the blonde beauty said: ' It's still sinking in because I wasn't expecting it!'

She continued :'I just burst into tears [when it happened]. I was so tired and jet lagged as I'd just got back from LA and we'd been at a wedding party the night before...

'I'd had no sleep, so I just burst into tears, for once I was speechless!' before she added with laughter: 'My mascara went everywhere!'

The male model and singer both took to their Instagram accounts to share the happy news - with Pixie sharing a photo of her dazzling diamond ring, adding simply in the photo's caption: 'so happy.'

Extra emotional: The Cry Me Out singer went on to explain that her surprise was heightened by the fact that she was fresh off a long and tiring flight from LA when it happened

Careful: Pixie also admitted that the sparkling ring had to be resized three times - but that now she can wear it she is terrified of taking it off and losing it

The couple were seen later that day in famous jewellery quarter Hatton Garden - causing fans to speculate whether she was having the ring resized or changed.

The Essex native added on the red carpet that she is obsessed with her bedazzling piece of bling, but that it is taking some getting used to having been Oliver's girlfriend for over six years.

She explained: 'I'm getting used to wearing this ring - it was actually too big and I had to get it resized three times.'

Want it to be just right: She confessed: 'Next year's going to be super busy with new music and other stuff and I don't want to rush because it I want it to be absolutely perfect'

Yet, she further admitted that her love for the ring helps her to be extra cautious with it - due to the fact she is somewhat scatty in every day life.

The songstress added: 'Now I can wear it I don't want to take it off because I lose everything, and I'm worried I'll lose it. That would be very bad.'

However while the pair are still planning to celebrate their upcoming union this Christmas, the Boys and Girls crooner admits they have not yet started planning the nuptials themselves.

Mrs Cheshire:  Although she did add that she did not want to wait too long to marry her handsome beau: 'If I don't get time to do it then it'll definitely by 2018 for sure'

The loved-up pair shared a host of sweet snaps on the day of their engagement - including one of them kissing at Madison Restaurant & Bar in front of St Paul's as the sun set, with glasses of bubbly in hand.

Metallic dream: The Mama Do singer turned the heads on the red carpet in her floor-length gown, which was decorated all over with chunky silver sequins

He later added: 'What a beautiful day and the most beautiful woman in the world said yes to me on it. Lucky man.'

It is no wonder Pixie caught the attention of the male model back in 2010, as she arrived at the BBC Music Awards on Monday night in a festive sequin maxi gown.

The Mama Do singer first turned the heads on the red carpet in her floor-length gown, which was decorated all over with chunky silver sequins.

Featuring a thin mesh section at the top, the dress gave a sexy glimpse of her decolletage before it extended down into its striking vertical shimmering stripes.

Slender: Adding a further chic element to the look, Pixie layered a chunky black belt on top at her middle, to cinch in and enhance her enviably petite waist

While she kept accessorises minimal to maintain focus on the show-stopping dress, the singer glammed up the look by styling her blonde locks into big and bold curls - drawing attention to her dewy make-up stunning features.

Carrying a tiny black box bag and of course, sporting her new engagement rock on her finger, Pixie oozed confidence as she playfully held her skirt out for the cameras.

The singer appeared to fly solo at the event - leaving her new fiancé Oliver behind for her night on the town.

The lovebirds' engagement comes several months after Pixie complained that she regularly faced questions about when she and Oliver would take their romance to the next level.

Speaking to Notion magazine last year, she said: 'Honestly, people are obsessed with it! I don't know, I always get asked "when are you getting married?"

'As soon as I started going out with Oliver I was asked it, and I still get asked in it every interview.

'I don't know why that is, maybe it's just something that people want to hear about, I don't know. I think male celebrities probably don't get asked it as much.'
