Ultimate Fighting Championship superstar Conor McGregor has made an embarrassing faux pas in his latest Instagram snap.

The Irish lightweight champion is pictured reading a newspaper while sitting in a luxury private jet - but unfortunately he's holding the paper upside down.

The 28-year-old shared the photograph with his nine million Instagram followers with the caption: 'Wearing my Pj's on the P.J [private jet] #GoalTicked'.

Fans quickly took to the site to point out the embarrassing mistake, with Ryan Grana commenting: 'Must be struggling to read that paper when it's upside down.'

Another user, posting under the username 19clayton8, added 'Lad ya paper is upside down.

The fighter made history last month by becoming the first man in the history of UFC to hold title belts at two weight divisions.

He is currently taking time out following his emphatic victory over Eddie Alvarez at New York's Madison Square Garden.

He flew to Texas on a private jet this week, apparently with just the aim of getting Texan fried chicken.

McGregor shared a photograph of himself and his entourage outside a 'TFC' eatery, with the caption: 'Private jet to Texas Fried Chicken.'

The UFC superstar, who is expected to take a 10 month break from the sport, and girlfriend Dee Devlin are currently expecting their first child together.

He has also been confirmed to featured in the next series of HBO's blockbuster series Game of Thrones.

Speaking in September, McGregor said he believed that 2016 could be a '$40m year' for him.
