Dakota Fanning has rekindled a romance with her high school sweetheart, DailyMail.com can reveal.

The I Am Sam star, 22, was spotted holding hands with a hunky mystery man in New York last weekend.

And DailyMail.com has learned her new beau is commercial real estate broker Logan Markley.

Markley and Fanning dated for a year at North Hollywood's Campbell Hall Episcopal High School in Los Angeles, and have kept in touch as friends ever since.

Dakota Fanning is spotted out in NYC with her old high school sweetheart in a look that channels her previous life as a cheerleader and normal school girl.

She's rocking flares, a leather moto jacket, furry tote and classic adidas Originals Superstar sneakers.

Fanning, who was a cheerleader and homecoming queen, graduated from the school in 2011 and went on to study women's studies at New York University.

The actress recently confirmed she had called it quits with model Jamie Strachan, after nearly three years together.

But it seems she has quickly found love again.

A source told DailyMail.com: 'Dakota and Logan have always been close and they dated for about a year in high school.

'Logan recently split with his girlfriend so when Dakota split with Jamie they hooked up again. It's early days but they couldn't be happier.'

Markley, also in his early 20s, grew up in LA but now lives in New York, and is a successful broker at America's number one commercial real estate firm Marcus & Millichap.

He specializes in the sale of multifamily and mixed-use investment properties in New York City.

On the company's website it states: 'Since joining Marcus & Millichap at the end of 2014, Logan has sold over $105,000,000 in multifamily and mixed-use properties in Midtown West.

'He was the recipient of Marcus & Millichap's 2015 Pace Setter Award, given to new agents who meet a high standard of performance.'

Markley began his career in real estate in 2012 at Marcus & Millichap, working in the Encino, California office.

He graduated from The George Washington School of Business in 2014, majoring in finance with a concentration in real estate.

The profile on the site adds: 'He was born and raised in Los Angeles, where his family owns real estate, giving him exposure at a young age. In his free time, Logan enjoys traveling, watching sports, and playing tennis.'

Fanning was last with model Jamie Strachan, who is 13 years her senior.

The actress revealed in the November issue of Town & Country that she had split from Strachan.

The Runaways star added she does not like talking about it.

'I was raised by very traditional Southern parents with Southern manners. You don't air your dirty laundry to people that aren't your family or your friends. Why would I ever want to portray myself as anything other than together?'

The actress said: 'The way I prefer to meet someone is through a friend [because that means the person] is most likely not a freak.

'I find dates, in general, horrific. We have to sit there and ask these questions and pretend to eat a meal, and it just feels so stiff.'

Fanning has an extremely busy work load, as she continues filming Ocean's Eight and will get to work on The Bell Jar, which is now in pre-production.
