He’s made a habit of quirky, outlandish style statement, but even by his own standards Justin Bieber appeared to raise the bar during an appearance in West Hollywood on Saturday evening.

The Canadian singer, 22, carried a heavy fur coat over one shoulder as he climbed from his car ahead of a dinner date at local restaurant Delilah.

Neatly folded, the brown striped item looked not unlike a large blanket as he idled on the sidewalk in a casual T-shirt and chinos.

But on a warm night in Los Angeles the hit-maker appeared to change his mind by opting to switch the heavy looking coat for a significantly lighter camouflage jacket before making his way inside.

Bieber is enjoying a welcome three month break before resuming his mammoth Purpose world tour in February.

The singer will perform in Monterrey on February 15, the first of fifteen dates in Latin America, scheduled on either side of five tour dates in Australia and New Zealand.

The tour will then take in shows across Africa, mainland Europe and the United Kingdom before returning to North America, where it concludes with a show at Toronto's Rogers Centre on September 6.

Bieber has also scored Grammy Award nominations for album of the year and best pop vocal album for Purpose and song of the year for Love Yourself.

But after declaring awards shows 'fake' and 'hollow' in a May 23 Instagram post, it is thought he might skip the prestigious ceremony, which takes place on February 12.

'I don't feel good when I'm there nor after,' he confessed at the time.

'These award shows seem so hollow. I get the premise is to award people for their accomplishments, but is it really?

'Because when I look in the audience I see a bunch of fake smiles so that when the camera hits them they look happy.'
