And Kate Beckinsale ensured she was the centre of attention on Sunday night as she made a show-stopping arrival at the 22nd Annual Critics' Choice Awards.

The actress, 43, stood out from the crowds in a plunging and glittering ballgown as she and the equally glamorous Lily Collins, 27, led the British talent at the glamorous bash, held at Barker Hangar in California.

Opposites attract: Kate Beckinsale (L) and Lily Collins (R) dazzled in alternate black and white mesh ensembles as they led the British talent at the 22nd Annual Critics' Choice Awards

Be the belle of the ball like Kate in an embellished gown

Kate Beckinsale was inspired by her famous character in Underworld when she chose her red carpet look for the Critics' Choice awards. She was a dark beauty that evening with a sheer black gown that had a striking train to it.

Kate's dress was fresh off the runway, having featured in the Reem Acra's spring 2017 collection. With its voluminous tulle skirt, puffed sleeve with bodice-style top and all-over embellishment, this couture gown is surely every gothic girl's dream dress!

While it's not shoppable right now, you can click right to shop Reem Acra's current collection at ShopBop.

The Underworld star looked truly mesmerising in the floor-length gown, which was formed entirely of black mesh to reveal her long legs and killer figure.

The dress was of a traditional ballgown shape, featuring chic puffy satin sleeves and a full skirt and train.

However the mother-of-one transformed the classic look into one far more modern and sexy as she gave a glimpse of her bare body underneath, thanks to the saucy semi-sheer material.

Mesh-merising! The Underworld star looked truly mesmerising in the floor-length gown, which was formed entirely of black mesh to reveal her long legs and killer figure

Traditional: The dress was of a traditional ballgown shape, featuring chic puffy satin sleeves and a full skirt and train

Adding a hint of glitz for her special night, the frock was then adorned with glittering diamanté gems all over - which were organised into a low plunging sweetheart neckline to tease at her cleavage.

Kate styled her hair into a soft ponytail with strands falling loose to frame and draw attention to her naturally beautiful features as she smouldered for the cameras.

The actress is enjoying a successful streak currently - being nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy at the bash for her role in Love & Friendship, just days after winning the same gong at the London Evening Standard Film Awards.

Shining: Adding a hint of glitz for her special night, the frock was then adorned with glittering diamanté gems all over

Model material: Meanwhile Lily mirrored Kate's semi-sheer style in a sexy Gothic gown - which caught plenty of attention as it showed off her envy-inducing model figure

Who's the fairest of them all? The Mirror Mirror star appeared to channel her iconic Snow White character as she clad herself in a bold lace gown and striking make-up for the ceremony

The period comedy, based on the Jane Austen novel Lady Susan, follows Kate as the eponymous character, who tries to arrange a marriage between her daughter and the wealthy but unfortunate Sir James (Bennett) - but ends up marrying him herself.

Released in January of this year, the funny flick also starred Chloë Sevigny, Xavier Samuel and Stephen Fry.

Talking of the film, which was met with praise from critics and fans alike, the British beauty admitted to The Hollywood Reporter that she fell in love with the character straight away.

Dramatic: Making the outfit far more bold and beautiful however was her make-up - which saw her go against the usual bronzed and dewy style in favour of a heavily powdered and pale look

Fierce: Teaming this with a seductive rouge lip and a sweeping of dark and smoky eye shadow, the Love, Rosie star put on an incredibly sultry display

Suits you! Joining the young beauty at the event was actor Hugh Grant, who was accompanied by his glamorously-clad girlfriend Anna Eberstein in matching suit ensembles

She said of the moment she read the script: 'I just felt, 'Oh, this is so exactly my kind of humour.'

'I love that kind of humor where the character's got kind of a blind spot and could be just the most awful person in the world, but actually is somehow charming and likeable.'

Meanwhile Lily mirrored Kate's semi-sheer style in a sexy Gothic gown - which caught plenty of attention as it showed off her envy-inducing model figure.

Clean-cut couple: The actor looked his usual dapper self in a simple but classic suit and tie combination - while his partner flashed her legs in a chic black dress, styled like a blazer

Man of the hour: Hugh has been put forward for the Best Actor in a Comedy award for his role in Florence Foster Jenkins - which he starred in alongside Meryl Streep

The Mirror Mirror star appeared to channel her iconic Snow White character as she clad herself in a bold lace gown and striking make-up for the ceremony.

The gown held an old-fashioned, Gothic feel with its intricate lace detailing, sophisticated high neck and feminine flowing bell sleeves.

However the look was made sexier by its saucy mesh material - with the lace layered on top of a semi-sheer nude slip, which displayed her sensationally slim figure.

Mon magic! Amy Adams stunned in a floor-length white dress while Nicole Kidman showed off her tiny frame in a cut-out black cocktail dress

Star quality! Kerry Washington wore a plunging semi-sheer embellished dress

Flashing the flesh! Mandy Moore donned a plunging navy dress while Emma Stone wore an elegant cut-out panel two-piece

The embroidery teased just a glimpse of her ample bust underneath as it stretched across her chest, before it cinched in at her middle to enhance her petite waist.

Making the outfit far more bold and beautiful however was her make-up - which saw her go against the usual bronzed and dewy style in favour of a heavily powdered and pale look for a more dramatic effect.

Teaming this with a seductive rouge lip and a sweeping of dark and smoky eye shadow, the Love, Rosie star put on an incredibly sultry display as she posed fiercely on the carpet.

Glitzy! Felicity Huffman wore a monochrome ensemble with a wide sequin-encrusted belt

Bright: Lisa Bonet stood out in a zebra-print dress while Hailee Steinfeld turned heads in a flower-embellished frock

Red hot: Bella Thorne wore a semi-sheer gold panelled dress

Joining the young beauty at the event was famous British actor Hugh Grant, who was accompanied by his glamorously-clad girlfriend Anna Eberstein.

The actor looked his usual dapper self in a simple but classic black suit and tie combination - while his TV producer partner flashed her long legs in a chic black dress, styled like a blazer.

The trendy number featured traditional lapels, pockets and chunky gold buttons on the front, before cutting off at her thigh to keep her enviable pins on show.

Floor-length: Kaley Cuoco turned up the glamour in a glitter-encrusted pale pink ensemble while Janelle Monae did the same in a checked piece

Simple: Jessica Biel covered up in a plunging floor-length piece

Standing out! Busy Phillips wore a red lace gown while Michelle Williams flaunted her trim figure in a monochrome floral frock

Sweeping her hair off her face, the blonde showed off her naturally stunning features as she beamed widely beside her partner - who is one of the evening's nominees.

Hugh has been put forward for the Best Actor in a Comedy award for his role in Florence Foster Jenkins - which he starred in alongside Meryl Streep.

Talking on the carpet, the Love Actually star admitted of working with Oscar-winning actress in his witty style: 'She was very intimidating in the lead up to it, but she endured me very kindly.'

The blockbuster, released in May, followed Streep as a New York heiress who became an opera singer, known for her painful lack of singing skill - with Hugh portraying her husband and manager St. Clair Bayfield.

Despite the film receiving widespread praise, Hugh also admitted that he had not been expecting to be recognised for the role at all.

'It was very surprising and lovely,' he confessed of his nomination. 'I’m never part of award season so it’s a whole new world for me. Any kind of nod is very nice.'

Hot! Ariel Winter went backless in a racy sequin-encrusted piece
