Chris later opened up about how his weight gain helped him land more comedic roles.
'I was confident and in good shape when i first came to LA but nobody would cast me in any well written roles. People assumed based on my looks i was an asshole and a one trick pony,' he said.
Adding: 'They never let me improv or do comedy. It wasn't until I built a shlubby exterior, which stood in stark contrast to my inner confidence that people gave me room to play.'
Back then: The Jurassic World actor also opened up about his Parks and Recreation days, and how his comedy roles came from his 'shlubby' exterior
A turn: It wasn't until Chris started to land box-office films such as Guardians Of The Galaxy when his career and his appearance took a turn; picture taken in 2013

It wasn't until Chris landed lead roles in box-office films such as Guardians Of The Galaxy when his career took turns.
However, writing on Reddit, the actor still reminiscences about the NBC show saying: 'I miss the cast and crew. I miss my friends. I miss the commute. I miss the fact it was a steady gig, all comedy, and took me 7 minutes to get to work.'
He compared it to working on his upcoming feature film, Passengers, saying: 'The hardest part of working on Passengers would be the schedule. There were only two of us primarily through the whole shoot and we worked incredibly long hours. I was homesick a lot of the time. It was a grind.'
'It was a grind:' The Magnificent Seven star also told his Reddit fans about working on his upcoming film, Passengers, saying he worked long hours and got 'homesick'
The sci-film - which he stars in opposite Jennifer Lawrence - tells the story of two passengers who are awakened 90 years too early when their ship malfunctions.
The characters begin to fall in love but have to focus on rescuing 5,000 sleeping passengers when their lives are at stake.
When asked on Reddit about working with the 26-year-old actress, Chris wrote: 'Jen is awesome. She's funny and cool. She's refreshingly tough. She's an amazing actor. It feels good to be around her.'
On his favorite memory during set: 'We were sitting in our chairs waiting for the next shot and a big set light bulb exploded nearby and she screamed. high pitched. very feminine. Then she immediately looked over at me and said, "Jesus Chris! You scream like a woman! Did everyone just hear Chris?" and for the rest of the shoot i couldn't convince anyone it wasn't me. I just had to own it.'
Passengers hits theaters on December 21.
