Winning brownie points? Jamie Bell wears NY Giants shirt after Kate Mara revealed she dumped previous beau over disrespecting family trophy
Kate Mara's family owns the New York Giants on her father's side.
And Jamie Bell looked to be intent upon winning some brownie points with his wealthy girlfriend after it was revealed she dumped her previous beau over disrespecting an NFL trophy.
The couple was spotted on a Sunday morning dog walk in Los Angeles as Bell sported a Giants cap and jersey emblazoned with star player Odell Beckham Jr's number 13.
In their good graces: Jamie Bell sported NY Giants gear as he went for walk with NFL heiress Kate Mara in Los Angeles on Sunday
Perhaps, the 30-year-old Englishman was attempting to win the good graces of the National Football League heiress in his bright fan gear.
Mara recently revealed she decided to dump another English boyfriend after he left a dent in the Vince Lombardi Trophy after kicking it with a steel-toed boot.
The actress' ex-lover, most likely Daredevil star Charlie Cox, booted the venerable award after he accidentally dropped it at her parents' house, where it had been taken especially after the New York Giants won the Super Bowl.
Lookalikes: Kate and Jamie had on matching black sweatpants to which the House Of Cards star added a black leather biker jacket while the Billy Elliot star chose a black padded jacket
Walking their dogs: Kate added a dark green knitted cap over her blonde bob while Jamie went for a NY Giants logo'd hat and matching Giants shirt on the chilly Sunday
This was a troublesome development, as the 33-year-old's family owns NFL teams the Pittsburgh Steelers through her mother's side of the family and the New York Giants on her father's.
Explaining what happened after the trophy arrived at the family abode on Conan, Kate said: 'My parents, my mom specifically, was very excited about this. And she said (to her beau), "Would you like to see it? Would you like to hold it?"
'He was a very enthusiastic man and he put on the gloves and then he went to lift up the trophy, but he lifted it up from the base, which we didn’t know wasn’t connected to the trophy, and it fell.
Gone to the dogs: Kate is a huge animal lover and Jamie is clearly happy to embrace the pups
'In slow-motion I saw, he was wearing these steel-toed boots, he was a pretty good soccer player and he kicked his foot up and caught the trophy with his boot and then caught it in his hands.
'And he dented, just a tiny part. It never hit the ground though and I look over at my dad who is in the kitchen just watching the whole thing happen.'
Kate said her father Timothy, who has worked as vice president for player evaluation for the Giants was aghast.
Precious: The Lombardi Trophy weighs 7 pound and is entirely made of sterling silver
She added: 'And that was the end. We broke up and that was it.'
The Fantastic Four favourite did not precisely identify which of her English boyfriends committed the faux pas.
Meanwhile, on Sunday Kate and Jamie appeared to be wearing the same black sweatpants to which the House Of Cards star added a black leather biker jacket while the Billy Elliot star chose a black padded jacket.
The actress had on a white logo'd t-shirt and a dark green knit cap while her British beau seemed supportive of his girlfriend's family by wearing New York Giants logo'd shirt and knit cap.
Kate's dad works for, and his family owns, of course, the Giants, while her mother's family owns NFL rivals the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The couple have some down time right now in their busy careers.
Kate has recently wrapped filming the movie Megan Leavey and has three other films in the can for release next year.
Jamie has a break before starting work on season four of cable TV series TURN: Washington's Spies and has also finished two movies slated for 2017.
