She's a cut above the rest! Nicole Kidman puts on an elegant display as she flaunts her midriff in a daring black gown at the Critics' Choice Awards

She's known to turn heads on the red carpet.

And Nicole Kidman certainly didn't disappoint with her latest look at the Critics' Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Monday.

Dressed in black from head to toe, the 49-year-old oozed elegance while baring her tummy and legs in a daring black gown.

The floor-length frock featured a high-waisted skirt and a large triangle cut-out that showed off the Australian beauty's midriff.

Nicole's decolletage was also on display thanks to the outfit's very plunging neckline.

Adding a pair of strappy black heels to the ensemble, the mother-of-four made sure to flaunt her endless pins, which could be seen through the dress' very high slit.

She added dainty diamond earrings and a thin bracelet, as well as a sparkly brooch pinned to her dress' right sleeve.

She added a pop of colour to the entire look with a bold red lip, while maintaining the dark theme with a black manicure.

Starring in the adoption tale Lion, Nicole will go up against Janelle Monae, Greta Gerwig, Naomi Harris, Michelle Williams and Viola Davis for the Best Supporting Actress Award at the event.

Her co-star Dev Patel, who plays her adopted son in the movie, is also up for an award for his role.

After its release in November, Lion has been touted as a possible winner at next year's Oscars - with Nicole already picking up the Best Supporting Actress Award at the Hollywood Film Awards for her role as Sue Brierley.

While promoting the film, Nicole explained her own experiences drew her to the movie and noted the bond between mother and child goes beyond blood.

'We have many mothers, biological...adoptive but the way in which mothers can love and the power of that and that launches you off into the world.'

The actress adopted her son Connor and daughter Isabella in 1992 and 1995 with her then-husband Tom Cruise.
