Jon Voight says Angelina Jolie is 'holding on' amid messy custody battle and divorce from Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie is embroiled in a messy custody battle and divorce from her husband of two years, Brad Pitt.

But according to her father Jon Voight, the 41-year-old actress is 'holding on' and doing 'OK.'

The 77-year-old Ray Donovan star spoke to E! News on Sunday about upcoming holiday plans with his A-list daughter and grandchildren.

'Christmas is family, and I have lots of family,' the Oscar winner said. 'I'm hoping to see my grandchildren... I'm making the plans now.'

Angelina temporarily has primary custody of the former couple's six kids - Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and eight-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.

The Maleficent actress filed for divorce from her Mr And Mrs Smith and By The Sea co-star on September 19 after a fight during a flight from France into the US.

It was reported by TMZ there was an altercation with their eldest son Maddox, whom she adopted before she met Pitt.

The FBI and the DCFS became involved and launched an investigation. Both investigations have since ended.

Jolie's rep said the actress was 'relieved' that the investigation had concluded.

'Angelina said from the beginning that she felt she had to take action for the health of the family and is relieved that after their eight-week involvement, the DCFS is now satisfied the safeguards are put in place that will allow the children to heal,' the statement read.

'She did what she felt she had to do to protect the safety of the kids,' a source told People magazine shortly after the split.

'The younger kids don’t understand what’s going on,' the insider added.

According to TMZ, Angelina had checked into the hotel a day earlier, before Brad was denied an emergency hearing to request that their custody battle be made private.

Brad, 52, will now have to wait until January after the judge denied his request to have documents relating to the court case between the former couple sealed, stating that the filing did not meet the requirements.

The actor told the court he was worried for his children.

'I am extremely concerned that if court records regarding custody are not sealed, information contained therein will cause irreparable damage to our children's privacy rights,' he said in a sworn written declaration filed Wednesday.

However Angelina's attorneys responded: 'His ... request is a thinly veiled attempt to shield himself, rather than the minor children, from public view.'
