Many of us have experienced the fear of being in the doghouse after getting carried away on a night out when someone is waiting up at home.

But at least 16-year-old Jodie Duncan saw the funny side when her boyfriend got a bit tipsy at a friend's birthday and then bombarded her with messages on every conceivable social network and app, saying: 'R U angry at me?'

Jodie shared a screenshot his efforts on Twitter, including a £10 gift voucher he'd sent her, which has now had more than 29,000 retweets and 85,000 likes.

Jodie Duncan, 16, from Scotland and her boyfriend Kieron have become an internet sensation after the 18-year-old tried to make amends for having a night out when he should have been at home with his poorly girlfriend

Kieron, 18, tried to find out if he was in the doghouse by sending a message to Jodie on every conceivable social network and texting app

Jodie's boyfriend Kieron Cameron, 18, was meant to stay at home with her on Saturday because she had been feeling ill, but instead went out to celebrate a friend's birthday and returned a little the worse for wear.

The 18-year-old messaged Jodie on Instagram, Twitter, iMessage, WhatsApp, Snapchat and called on FaceTime, asking her if she was angry at him. Kieron even sent her a £10 MAC cosmetics voucher.

She posted his efforts on Twitter with the caption: ‘When your boyfriend comes home drunk when you're meant to be "staying in" together'.

She told FEMAIL: 'I wasn't angry at him at all, but I went downstairs to get a drink and came back to a message on every app that we both have.

Kieron tried to make up for his drunken episode by sending his girlfriend a £10 gift voucher from Mac, which repeated his question: 'R U angry at me'

'And most surprisingly there was a MAC gift voucher that had a message saying "r u angry at me?" on it.

'I posted it on Twitter only thinking a few of our friends would get a laugh out of it, but ever since it's grown and loads of people have retweeted and liked it.'

She added: 'I wasn't angry at him at all, we both just made a joke out of it'

The 16-year-old said she is stunned by all the attention she has received for innocuous tweet.

'My phone freezes every time I come on Twitter.

'I'm just shocked really at how big it's got and I find it really funny.'

Many of Jodie's Twitter followers were impressed by Kieron's efforts, including Charlotteebevan who told her: 'You you a good on there girl.'

Meanwhile, KirstymacIeod said the gesture showed he was 'a keeper'.

Others, though, such as Davidramsons1 were more cynical.

Jodie posted Kieron's messages on Twitter thinking a few friends would see it, but it's now gone viral with 29,000 retweets and 85,000 likes

'Wow, he's cheap, only £10,' he wrote. 'I bet he spent more to get pissed than spend a few quid on you.'

KatBarlow chimed in with a similar point, saying: '£10 wouldn't get you much from Mac.'

However, TheReal_Pjack12 reminded everyone: 'It's the thought that counts.'

But all Bubbache wanted was the burning question answered, saying: 'But are you angry at him?'
