Paramedics found Mark Fulgham, 36, covered in bed sores and riddled with maggots at their Concord, California home after his wife Dormanicia called 911 when he began struggling to breathe on December 30, 2015. He died in hospital just one day later of severe dehydration, malnutrition and infection. Police said he had suffered such severe starvation that his bones were severely pronounced. Dormanicia Lawson, 37, was arrested and initially charged with homicide over what California officials deemed 'one of the worst neglect cases' they'd ever seen.

Tori Spelling and her husband Dean McDermott have moved for the eighth time in six years to make room for their fifth child together. The sprawling 4,714-square-foot, 1980s-era estate is in Woodland Hills, California, just nine miles north of her former rental in Encino. Along with gaining an additional 1,800 square feet from the move, Spelling is also getting a tennis court and relaxing sauna in the master bath. Jerry Henderson, 56, was told to leave Six Flags over Texas in Arlington (inset) by security guards after posing for photographs with children and giving out candy canes to families who approached him. Six Flags said it could not allow an adult they had not authorized to interact with young children and told him to leave. Security guards said he would be more welcome if he shaved his beard off.

But he exploded with anger when politicians balked at the price in blood and treasure.

A woman was captured on video being dragged off an airplane by the police after she did not comply with boarding procedures, according to CBS. The woman, who remains unnamed, refused to leave the plane at Detroit Metropolitan Airport before it took off for San Diego on Monday, according to a Delta spokesperson. She was arrested for violation of airport ordinances, including failure to leave the aircraft, although she has not been formally charged, the spokesperson said.

For decades, the Florida mansion of William John Howey was a social hub. Lamiya Aji Bashar, 18, and Nadia Murad, 23, are two of thousands of Yazidi women and girls who have been abused by the terror group. Lamiya (pictured, right, with Nadia), who lost the sight in one eye when she was injured by a landmine while escaping in March, said the Sakharov Prize for human rights was one 'for every woman and girl who has been sexually enslaved' by ISIS. They were given the award in Strasbourg, France.

Police say Detlev Guenzel killed and then partially ate Polish-born businessman Wojciech Stempniewicz in his basement in the mountains near Dresden in eastern Germany. A picture of Detlev, a police forensic specialist, shows him standing next to a skeleton and holding an axe wearing nothing but socks and sandals. Detectives say he spent five hours cutting up his victim's body in the cellar of the house which was a cheap holiday pension for hikers.

It's fair to say 2016 has been a mixed year, with the deaths of several icons and one of the most divisive Presidential campaigns in living memory. This is being marked on Twitter with a series of tweets jokingly illustrating the toll the year has taken on posters. The memes purportedly show people at the start and end of 2016 - and the change in them is certainly unflattering.

Michelle Obama and Ryan Seacrest found their modern sensibilities challenged by a classic Christmas poem Monday, when they read out A Visit from St Nicholas - better known as 'Twas The Night Before Christmas - to a group of kids. The pair recited the classic 1823 poem at Children's National Health System, a Washington, DC hospital that the First Ladies have visited since the 1940s, this time accompanied by Santa himself. But the poem's politically incorrect description of Saint Nick as a chubby pipe-smoker led to some hasty corrections by the pair, CNS News reported.

Daiwon McPherson, 33, duped his girlfriend, Shawna Blackmon, 28, into thinking he was armed and on the run in Mobile, Alabama on Friday. Mr McPherson, his motorbike group and Miss Blackmon were 'caught' by police at a petrol station just outside the town. But, when officers demand he gives up his 'gun', instead of a weapon Mr McPherson pulls out an engagement ring. Mobile Police spokesman Terrence Perkins said the officers were holding unloaded stun guns and all other on-duty officers were told about the fake call before it went out.

But within those paintings - and many more - lie rarely known details (circled in red) that bring them to life all over again. Those details form the basis for Susie Hodge's new book Art in Detail: 100 Masterpieces, CNN reported. These paintings - which also include (counter-clockwise from top left) Joseph the Carpenter, Entry of the Crusaders in Constantinople, are some of the most fascinating and illuminating.

Jillian Lester, 27, (right) who lives in Woodland Hills, California, first noticed things were going missing from her front yard six months ago. She decided to install security cameras and when they reviewed the footage she saw her neighbor Steve (left) standing on her porch, apparently stealing her wind chime (inset). Lester's mom confronted Steve who initially denied it. But then the stolen items reappeared back on their porch with a note and a bottle of beer.

The footage, shot in Sydney, Australia on Sunday, shows Feliks Zemdegs (pictured), 20, solving the famous 1980s Rubiks cube toy in just 4.73 seconds. The previous world record was set by Mats Valk (right), 20, who is sat next to Mr Zemdegs as he breaks his record. Mr Zemdegs, a commerce student at the University of Melbourne, gets just ten seconds to inspect the Rubiks cube before he has to solve it.

Mexico is a country of amazing contrasts and nowhere is the division between the wealthy and the impoverished more starkly illustrated than in these images of the capital, Mexico City. These dramatic shots, taken by photographer Johnny Miller, show that sometimes only a wall or a highway divides people whose incomes are a world apart (top left and top right). After a rhinoplasty, chin implant, Botox, lip and facial fillers, Bunny from New York (pictured left before surgery, and right after the procedures) has the same stunning facial features as the supermodel. And her thousands of online followers love comparing her to the Victoria's Secret beauty. Bunny plans to have further procedures to enhance her feminine look including breast augmentation and veneers.

Justine Elwood, 19, was fat-shamed while she was working at a Cold Stone Creamery store in Utah last week after a female customer came in with her children. Ms Elwood heard the woman say to her children: 'If you continue to eat too much ice cream you're going to look like her'. The woman then later took to Yelp to complain and leave a harsh review (inset) about Ms Elwood's weight, labeling her 'disgustingly obese'. The review instantly sparked outrage and there has been an outpouring of support for Ms Elwood from those in her community and strangers from across the country.

Clare Potts, 28, inset top, a blogger from England, shared pictures of her inventive hack, which involves pouring the wine into the water cooling section of her fridge, left and right, and Twitter users praised her. Twitter user Andrew Yee said: 'You should have got Time Person of the Year with this idea', inset left. However, not everyone was convinced by the idea and some suggested it would ruin the taste of the wine. Maneki Neko said: 'I'm horrified. An open wine in the fridge is quickly altered by the other food stored', bottom right.

Actor Bill Murray gave President Barack Obama's golf game a run for his money as they faced off in a video promoting the Affordable Care Act. The President, known for being a White Sox fan, jokingly told Murray: 'Generally, I don't let Cubs fans into the Oval Office,' as the two took turns putting a golf ball into a glass cup. The two exchanged good-natured barbs before Murray complained about his knee, giving the president an opportunity to urge him to sign up for insurance coverage.

Rachelle Friedman Chapman, 29, from Raleigh, North Carolina, was scared she would never have a normal sex life again after the freak accident before her wedding left her as a quadriplegic. 'I was like ... am I ever going to feel an orgasm again?' she told Tonic.  'Am I going to enjoy sex when I do it, even if I figure it out? Is it going to feel like nothing for me?' Chapman says that many people confined to wheelchairs, would choose to have sexual function and sensation before they could walk again. 'For someone like me who's a quadriplegic, it's a toss-up between hand function and sexual function.'

Sancho, a 10-year-old Jack Russell terrier, goes to volunteer at the San Gabriel Valley Medical Center in California with his owner every week. The pooch was recently dressed in a Christmas outfit and driven around in a toy VW bus for the entertainment of patients. One onlooker snapped a photo, which later went viral on Twitter.

New Zealand nail artist Jessie Mills has created edible nails made out of chocolate - the latest beauty nail craze to sweep the web. A video of her creating them has been viewed on Instagram 57,000 times. But not everyone is a fan, with some saying the nails are 'unhygienic.'
