Turning 36, John Terry will know he does not have many birthdays left to celebrate as a professional footballer.
But Wednesday morning saw his wife Toni and his two children, Georgie and Summer, ensure that the Chelsea captain’s day was one to remember.
Terry and his wife shared posts on Instagram as the ‘Captain, Leader, Legend’ - and father - was presented with a host of presents and cards, as well as a delicious homemade cake, topped with chocolate raisins, maltesers and love hearts.

Complete with a set of balloons at the foot of the bed, the central defender was woken up by his two children entering the room with the cake, singing Happy Birthday.
‘What a way to start my birthday,’ Terry posted on Instagram, along with a video of the mini procession. Toni posted a series of pictures with the caption: ‘Happy Birthday to my gorgeous hubby!’
And at home wasn't the only place where the defender was surrounded by cakes, as he showed off his lunch, which included a glass of red wine alongside pasta, broccoli and chicken, as well as a series of desserts.
The Chelsea centre back has been laden with landmarks over the past few days, with his birthday not the only anniversary.
Terry put up an Instagram post on Monday which pointed to the fact it had been 15 years to the day since he first donned the captain’s armband for the Blues.
The former England skipper has been forced to think on his future at Stamford Bridge, with his playing time under new boss Antonio Conte heavily reduced.

Terry has also recently celebrated 15 years since he first donned the captain's armband
Terry started the first four Premier League matches of the season but has played just six minutes in the league since suffering an ankle injury in September.
The 36-year-old has missed the last two matches with a buttock problem, but has been seen taking training at Chelsea’s Cobham ground as he contemplates his future in the game.
