I'm a lady! 'Naked' David Walliams brings a touch of Little Britain to The Royal Variety Performance as he leaves the WI blushing with nothing but iced buns to protect his modesty
His years dressed as transvestite Emily Howard never seemed to convince anyone that he was 'a lady'.
But David Walliams seemed delighted to be initiated into the Women's Institute on Tuesday for The Royal Variety Performance 2016 - in something of a Little Britain meets Calendar Girls hybrid sketch.
Taking the stage in nothing but a pair of flesh-coloured pants - with some strategically placed iced buns to protect his modesty - the comic no doubt gave royal attendees Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall quite a surprise.

What a tea-se! David Walliams really acted the part when he joined the Women's Institute for the Royal Variety Performance 2016 on Tuesday
The royal company did not appear to bother the comedian, who stripped almost completely naked for a joke involving Take That's Gary Barlow.
Those sitting at the back of the Eventim Apollo might be forgiven for thinking the comedian was totally nude, though he was actually wearing oversized underwear.
His risqué appearance was a reference to the hit 2003 film Calendar Girls, in which a group of women pose semi-naked for a calendar, as Barlow's new musical is based on the same story.

Leader of the pack: Gary Barlow could have been missed amongst the cast of The Girls
Sharing the stage with the cast of The Girls, Walliams, 45, joked that he had assumed all the actresses would be scantily clad so he wanted to look like them.
Yet the women were unable to hide their shock at his daring outfit, which was accessorised with pearl earrings and a pearl necklace.
An ITV spokesman confirmed that no one had been warned about Walliams' plans for the joke, other than members of the production team, so that reactions were genuine.

Having a laugh: He managed to keep a straight face, himself, despite being dressed in flesh-coloured underwear
The variety show was recorded last week but will be shown on ITV on Tuesday night, with guests including Barry Gibb, Sting and Emeli Sandé.
The magician Lance Corporal Richard Jones, who won Britain's Got Talent, is understood to have involved Prince Charles in his act.
Walliams previously hosted the event in 2012, which was attended by the Queen.
He said of the event: 'You have to keep control of your nerves. But I'm glad I have been asked to host it again – there are a lot of great people who could do it. I wouldn't want to be the person who did it once and was never asked back!
Laugh out loud: Even Gary couldn't seem to keep his composure
'The show is a tremendous laugh. Last year, Jack Whitehall made loads of jokes about Prince Harry.
'Later on, I met the Prince and asked him: "How long have you and Jack been pals?" They weren't. Jack just felt it was okay to be mischievous and tease Harry – and he was right. Some royal events can be stuffy, but this is a lot more fun. It's a magical experience.'
For Tuesday's show, the Little Britain star was lowered on to the Royal Albert Hall stage wearing a jet pack for an evening of James Bond-themed entertainment to mark 50 years of the 007 film franchise.
When he was asked to host for a second time, he said he was 'very honoured and excited'.
