Adding to the glamour, Felicity wore a glittering diamond bracelet and earring set, whilst her chestnut coloured tresses were swept back into a chic chignon bun.

Felicity will hit the big screen as Jyn Erso in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story which is the first stand alone Star Wars anthology film.

The Theory of Everything starlet recently told Metro that she doesn't think it's a 'big deal' as a female playing the lead role in such a huge film.

'People keep saying how amazing it is having a female lead and I just sort of feel, well, of course, it shouldn't be such a big deal. We are half the population.'

Legs eleven! True Whitaker displayed her enviably lean legs in a black satin gown with a thigh high split as she stormed the red carpet

Family fun: She was at the event with her father Forest Whitaker who stars in the film

Working it: True seemed in great spirits as she posed up a storm for the cameras

Dapper chaps: Mads Mikkelsen and Ben Mendelsohn both opted for sharp tailored suits as they made their way into the fan screening

Despite this, Felicity admitted that during her childhood, she would pretend to be a male character rather than the glamorous Princess Leia.

She said: 'I was definitely Han Solo! Or Luke Skywalker. I was a tomboy. I think that's what I tapped into playing Jyn. I was very sporty.'

Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, 51, plays Jyn's father Galen, and trailers suggests that he is perhaps the designer of the most powerful space station ever built.

Cast and crew: (L-R) Donnie Yen, Ben Mendelsohn, Kathleen Kennedy, Forest Whitaker, Riz Ahmed, Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk and Gareth Edwards

Set between the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and the original Star Wars film, 1977's Episode IV: A New Hope, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first of three standalone spin-off films, is released in the UK on Thursday.

Rogue One sees the Rebel Alliance enlist Jyn to help steal the blueprint of the Galactic Empire's planet-vaporising Death Star.

In the original Star Wars film, those plans wind up in the hands of Princess Leia and then Luke Skywalker, who ultimately destroys it successfully.

Bluetiful! Producer Kathleen Kennedy dazzled in a navy velvet blazer that she wore over a black brocade print midi dress

Looking sharp: Donnie Yen and Diego Luna both looked dapper at the fan screening

Rogue One has received generally positive reviews, with Variety's Peter Dubridge claiming it is the 'prequel they've always wanted.'

Meanwhile, Hollywood Reporter's Todd McCarthy said: 'What fans will get here is loads of action, great effects, good comic relief, stunning locations (Iceland, Jordan and the Maldives) and some intriguing early glimpses of the Galactic Empire as it begins to flex its inter-galactic power.'

Peter Travers from the Rolling Stones claimed: 'Smashing Jones giving us a female warrior to rank with the great ones and a cast that knows how to keep it real even in a sci-fi fantasy, Rogue One proves itself a Star Wars story worth telling.'

Four of a kind: The Vamps seemed in great spirits as they huddled together at the event
