Sharing is caring! Coldplay star Chris Martin reveals he gives away 10 percent of his $90 million fortune to 28 different charities 

Chris Martin has $90 million dollars in the bank but he isn't keeping it to himself. The generous singer has revealed he gives away ten percent of his all earnings.

The superstar told Today's Richard Wilkins that his mum taught him to donate to the needy when he was just ten-years-old. He's carried on the tradition ever since.

'Ten percent of Chris' pocket money goes to charity,' Coldplay guitarist Jonny Buckland joked on the show.

'Mum still gives me three pounds a week,' Chris added with a laugh. 

In fact, Chris revealed his entire band Coldplay share ten percent of their $475 million net worth with 28 charities and take their donations very seriously.

The super group, who are touring Australia this month, support a wide range of foundations, including Amnesty International, City of Hope and the Red Cross.

'It's very important for us. It drives us on. We don't talk about it that much but you asked. It is true,' the 39-year-old told Richard Wilkins.

The former hubby of actress Gwyneth Paltrow was taught to be charitable at a young age by him mum, Allison Martin.  

'I used to get ten pence pocket money. The first time she gave me nine, I was like, 'what is this?',' Chris told Today. His mum's response? 'Get used to it, son!'

The British star's 44-year-old former wife is also a philanthropist, donating to charities including the American Cancer Society and UNICEF.

The couple finalised their divorce in July and although the split has been amicable, the songwriter admitted in March that he struggled with depression for a year. 

'I still wake up down a lot of days. But now I feel like I've been given the tools to turn it around,' he told The Sunday Times
