Jane Danson - who portrays Leanne Battersby on Coronation Street - has revealed that her character's current pregnancy storyline has brought bad memories back to her about losing her own baby via miscarriage.

The actress explained that Leanne's storyline has prompted a lot of interviewers to ask her about her own role as a mother.

She already has two children but says she is always being asked if she's broody for more.

'I’m going to be completely honest – and I kind of feel in a good place to say it – I actually lost a baby a couple of years ago,' the soap star revealed to The Sun.

'It does make me feel a bit sad, and it’s been difficult at times, but it’s Leanne going through it, not me,' she elaborated, explaining how she is able to distance herself from it as an actress.

'I’ve got two wonderful children, so I know how lucky I am,' she affirmed at the same time.

The revelation may come as a shock to fans of the 38-year-old as she has kept this detail of her private life heavily under wraps.

It's unclear whether or not she and her husband - actor Robert Beck - intend to keep trying for a third child, but it would seem Jane's 'good place' means she has come to terms with the sad loss.

Her pregnancy storyline on Corrie sees the father of Leanne's child Steve McDonald hiding from her that he has also simultaneously fathered another child with another woman - Michelle.

This plotline is set to blow up over the festive season, just as her absent sister Toyah makes a sensational return to the cobbles.

It would appear that the Battersby's plans for a merry Christmas are very much on the rocks.

Jane - who has been married since 2005 to Robert - is bound to be having a much happier holiday season than her on-screen alter ego.
