Shining star! Zoey Deutch dons gleaming dress at Hearst 100 Luncheon before plugging Why Him? with Megan Mullally

On Monday, celebrities converged on the Manhattan restaurant Michael's to ring in the Hearst 100 Luncheon.

Among the attendees, Zoey Deutch was a scene-stealer, having slid into an eye-popping multicoloured dress.

Blue, green and purple designs were splattered across the gleaming fabric, laced with streaks of black.

Several bits of the full-sleeved dress also featured a scaly motif in its patterning, and it featured a large formal collar.

A black strip wound about its waist, emphasising the 22-year-old's impressively lithe figure as she walked down the pavement outside the event.

The dress had been hemmed a bit above the ankle, allowing for a full view of her stylish black ankle-strap stilettos.

Among the other guests that day were Jessica Seinfeld, who'd put on a slimming black pantsuit and added a dash of colour by way of a pale blue scarf.

Mrs Jerry Seinfeld held an off-white clutch against her outfit as she stood for a photo beside a grinning Ali Wentworth.

The 51-year-old cut a summery figure in a turquoise dress with a pleated hem and midnight blue cloth roses scattered across it.

Her hair perfectly coiffed, she'd thrown in a bit of sharp contrast by pulling on a deep scarlet pair of ankle-strap high heeled shoes.

Diane Von Furstenberg had popped on a dark and sky blue tartan coat with a collar draped in grey and brown fur.

Beneath it was a simply elegant black turtlenecked dress with a hem cut off shortly before the knee, revealing black hose.

Her mane billowed free about a pair of slanted sunglasses, and she accessorised with a large black leather purse.

Gayle King had donned a zaffre dress with a V-neck that fell to provide only the faintest glimpse of her cleavage.

A large charcoal dress lined with fur - whether it was real or faux wasn't entirely clear - had been draped over the entire outfit.

Silver stilettos joined a list of accessories including a blue and pink clutch, and she'd let her fringed brown hair fall down nearly to her shoulders.

When the photographers began to snap, she found herself stood beside Jane Rosenthal, co-founder of Tribeca Productions.

The film business visionary had got on a chic black overcoat over a tight black waistcoat that clashed against a white top.

Black slacks flared out near the hem, nearly concealing her black shoes, and she carried a black leather purse.

Megan Mullally had also flung on a black overcoat, though beneath it was a black top splattered with a glinting and swirling golden design.

Black platform high-heeled boots matched a high-cut pair of black slacks, and the Will & Grace star had got a black clutch in her hand.

The 58-year-old's starred as Deutch's mother in Why Him?, an upcoming comedy film in which the Mullally character's husband is played by Bryan Cranston.

Why Him?'s plotline centres on the Deutch character's decision to get engaged to a brash celebrity played by James Franco, much to her father's chagrin.

At another point on Monday, Mullally and Deutch put in an appearance on Build Presents at the AOL headquarters in New York City.

Rocking the platforms: Megan Mullally turned up in an entirely black outfit other than swirling and glinting gold patterns splashed onto the front of her top

To plug the film, the Everybody Wants Some!! actress had popped on a red, black, blue and green striped jumper that tightened about her trim torso.

She'd paired it with a dress that featured multicoloured images of birds stitched onto a cream pattern.

Gold stilettos rounded out the look, and when she settled in her chair for the interview, the dress rode up to emphasise her pencil thin legs.

Meanwhile, the Broadway fixture had put on a pair of baggy trousers with several light grey elephants rampaging across a black field.

Her dark red wavy hair tumbled onto a black dress shirt, which she'd buttoned up entirely and which matched her platform shoes.

After opening in American cinemas on the eve of Christmas Eve, Why Him? will enjoy a theatrical release in Britain starting Boxing Day.
