Honest: Kim Cattrall has revealed her vulnerable side, opening up about her fear of Alzheimer's after losing her father Dennis Cattrall to the disease four years ago
Speaking to The Mirror, the Liverpool-born actress who moved to Canada as a baby before returning aged 11, revealed that her beloved father never lost his Northern accent.
'I'm concerned about Alzheimer's disease,' she revealed. 'It took my father. But that's your DNA . It's part of life. And I'm trying not to be so fear-based. It's a wake-up call to enjoy life, more than anything else. I want to make the most of the time that I have where I'm healthy and mobile. My mother is all there – she's 87 and amazing.
And despite being a poster girl for independent career woman across the world, the successful and self-made actress revealed she didn't plan not having children.
'It's been a really interesting point of getting older. I didn't anticipate not to have children, it wasn't part of the plan. It just sort of happened and evolved that way.'

Kim revealed that was a point in the eighties where she explored having children with her second husband, Andre J Lyson, but IVF was still in its early days.
'I didn't want to become a science experiment. I thought that if I felt like that, then I didn't want a baby enough. And so I accepted that it wasn't going to be the path for me and I made peace with it.'
Kim is known for playing the sex kitten Samantha on the hit TV show Sex And The City.
But in October actress Kim Cattrall told the Today Show, she often found some of her raunchy scenes a little daunting.

Iconic: Sex And The City aired from 1998 until 2004, with the film being released in 2008, and Kim played the sassy and sexy Samantha Jones
She admitted: 'There were so many scripts I thought, 'How the hell am I going to do that?''
Speaking of her racy scenes as Samantha Jones, Kim confessed: 'I had gone where no woman had ever gone before.'
The English-born star also explained how the TV series - also starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon - spoke to audiences.
'A show like this should have existed way before it did and I think there was an audience always waiting to feel and hear a woman's point of view at this point of their life,' she said.
'I always liked my character because... she had already been there and done that. She was a little bit older and a little more experienced, if you know what I mean,' Kim laughed.
She clarified there were no plans for a third Sex And The City film yet, but she takes the persistent rumours as a 'compliment' as so many people loved the characters.
Sex And The City originally aired from 1998 until 2004, with the first film spin-off being released in 2008.
