Lily Allen plants a tender kiss on her daughter as she enjoys a low-key day out with her sweet girls Ethel, 5, and Marnie, 3 in sunny LA

She came under fire recently for her party-girl ways.

But Lily Allen looked every inch the doting mother on Thursday as she stepped out in Los Angeles with her adorable little girls Ethel, 5, and Marnie, three.

The singer, 31, showed off her usual quirky style in an array of vibrant patterned jackets and striking sunglasses as she put on an adorable display with her two girls - planting a sweet kiss on her youngest.

The Smile singer looked more comfortable than ever as she left the Skirball Centre, an educational institute, with Marnie held in her arms. 

She opted for the casually cool look of tracksuit bottoms and a bomber jacket, which featured chic leather sleeves and a bright tribal print of red, orange and blue. 

Tying her hair into a loose ponytail and dressing her face with just a set of cute pink-rimmed shades, the British beauty flaunted an enviably clear and fresh complexion as she shared the tender kiss with her sweet girl.

Lily Allen was a punk princess who turned into a doting mother. She's still quite the quirky dresser but she's found it rather comfortable being swathed in luxury brands.

Lily was then seen later on that day with her elder daughter Ethel in tow, in another equally as vibrant jacket.

The thinner bomber added a pop of colour to her trademark tracksuit bottoms with its candy pink hue - and was made more striking by an equestrian-themed print on the front, featuring cartoon depictions of horses, saddles and rosettes. 

Adding further feminine touches to her sporty style, Lily accessorised with a set of lilac suede loafers and a sleek black leather Chanel bag as she enjoyed a spot of shopping with her other daughter.  

While it is not known why the singer is in LA with her girls, who she raises with estranged husband Sam Cooper, it is no doubt a much-needed break from her London home where she has faced her fair share of backlash recently. 

She took to her Twitter account after Halloween to inform followers of alleged abuse she suffered from a black cabbie.

She wrote: 'Just tried to get in a black cab with my kids. The driver looked at me and said, 'find an immigrant to drive you you stupid tart'.'

Her tweet came after she met a young Afghan boy at the 'Jungle' refugee camp near Calais after he risked his life attempting to board a lorry heading for the UK.

Lily was bombarded with criticism for a tearful apology she made 'on behalf of my country' to the boy. 

But her comments led to her receiving abuse online as some people claimed her 'crocodile tears' and apology were simply 'ridiculous'.

She was then later criticised for her party-girl behaviour at Notting Hill Carnival over the summer - where she was reportedly seen swigging Jack Daniels from the bottle, guzzling multiple alcoholic beverages and smoking before she was carried out of the street festival by her boyfriend MC Meridian Dan. 

However things are still looking up career-wise for Lily - who returned from a hiatus from the stage when she performed with Mark Ronson at an intimate gig at The Savoy Hotel in October.

She also took to Twitter recently to confirm she was in the process of creating and releasing new music.

Writing to her excited 6 million followers, she wrote: 'I have been busy recording my fourth solo album and it's very close to being finished.'

However she admitted that the new record was still a wait away as she helped Ethel settle into school for her first term.
