Khloé Kardashian has penned a 'natural' guide to banishing festive hangovers on her website, KhloewithaK.com - from drinking herbal tea to indulging in some gentle exercise
'I’m no stranger to living it up on a night out and then enduring a rough morning,' Khloe, 32, admitted.
'If you’re attending a lot of holiday parties this year, make sure to read about these holistic hangover cures so you can party hard and still get s*** done the next day.'
But can yoga and herbal tea really help cure a sore head? FEMAIL spoke to top nutritionists to see how you can make Khloé's hangover cures work for you.
Khloé says performing some gentle yoga will help stimulate toxin-busting fluids in your body - and nutritionist Shona Wilkinson agrees that light exercise can be an effective remedy
1. GET IN POSITION
What Khloé says: The last thing you might want to do in the morning after a boozy night out is do exercise, but Khloé advises doing some chilled yoga positions if you can manage it.
'If the thought of yoga isn’t vomit-inducing, then try doing child’s pose,' she says. 'The position is said to stimulate the circulation of lymph, a fluid in your body that helps remove toxins, AKA all that alcohol you drank last night.'
What the expert says: Shona Wilkinson, nutritionist at SuperfoodUK.com, agrees that some light exercise - as unappealing as it might be - can be an effective remedy.
'The movement from the likes of yoga and Pilates will help to increase blood flow to all parts of your body, but importantly, your liver,' she says.
'The more blood that passes through, the quicker your liver can detoxify the alcohol. The sweating will help to eliminate the toxins through your skin!'
2. DOWN SOME (LEMON) WATER
The star recommends downing coconut and lemon water, as well as ginger and mint tea - and nutritionist Dr Marilyn Glenville says these will help rehydrate after a night of heavy drinking
What Khloé says: Sometimes the simplest tricks are the best, and Khloé is adamant that H2O can be a godsend when you're nursing a sore head; she suggests trying coconut and lemon water as well as ginger and mint tea.
What the expert says: Dr Marilyn Glenville, nutritionist and author of Natural Alternatives to Sugar adds: 'Even mild dehydration can lead to "hangover" symptoms including fatigue, headache and bad moods.
'Nutrients cannot move into cells, and wastes cannot move out of the body, without water as a vital means of transportation. Alcohol and caffeine can cause the body to excrete too much water, along with nutrients such as Magnesium, Potassium and Vitamins B and C.
'These nutrients are particularly needed to help to restore your energy levels and support detoxification by your liver.'
3. BANISH THOSE TOXINS
Khloé swears by eggs, bagels and bananas to help banish toxins the morning after - and Shona Wilkinson agrees that eggs are a 'sensible' option to help support liver function
What Khloé says: 'Post-party, your body may be low on potassium and blood sugar, so opt for a banana and bagel to gain back the respective lost nutrients. Eggs are another good option because they are easy on the stomach and break down toxins in your body.'
What the expert says: Once you’ve managed to emerge from your duvet cover, re-energising your body is vital - and Shona Wilkinson agrees that eggs are a 'sensible' option.
'Eggs contain a nutrient called choline that supports liver function, she explains. 'They are a good source of protein, which helps to balance our blood sugar and even out cravings for carb-rich or stodgy foods.
'The protein they contain is also a good source of amino acids such as glutamine, cysteine and methionine that the liver needs to bind toxins and eliminate them from the body.'
