She and Dunham have been friends since childhood after attending the same New York school together.

Just a couple of weeks ago, Dunham revealed that she's undergone three successive surgeries this year as she continues to deal with ill health.

In her Lenny newsletter Tuesday on November 29, she shared that she 'spent much of my year in bed.'

'I was supine, feet up, heating pad on, recovering from three successive pelvic and uterine surgeries that rendered me unable to explore the world beyond my apartment, or maybe just angry and unwilling,' she wrote.

Her revelation came after she came in for criticism for cancelling a planned book signing because she was too sick to attend.
