There was no shortage of glamour on the Critics' Choice Awards red carpet, with some of the biggest names in film and TV gathering to kick-off awards season.
Nicole Kidman, Amy Adams, Emma Stone and Kate Beckinsale made their mark donning stylish gowns in black and white as they arrived at the event held at the Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport in Los Angeles.
Kidman, 49, who stars in Lion and is up for the supporting actress award, looked simply stylish in a black off-the-shoulder two-piece gown by Brandon Maxwell.

She was accompanied on the red carpet by her co-stars Dev Pattel, 26, and eight-year-old Sunny Pawar, who both looked dashing in their evening dress.
Nicole was one of the many stars who took to the stage in the evening, and despite losing out on the Best Supporting Actress gong, the star managed to keep a beaming smile on her face as she helped to present another segment of the awards.

And it seems that she had plenty to celebrate on the night, as her hit musical movie, La La Land, swept the board, taking home eight top prizes, including the coveted Best Picture.
It was no easy task as there were some impressive contenders in the same field including: Arrival, Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Lion, Loving, Manchester by the Sea, Moonlight and Sully.
The film - a musical set in modern day Tinseltown - landed 12 nominations, and took home gongs for Best Director for Damien Chazelle, Best Screenplay, Best Production, Best Score, Best Editing and Best Song.

The BFCA has approximately 250 members - comprised of critics working in television, radio and online media.
They have been conducting the Critics' Choice awards since 1995 and are considered to represent most fully - out of awards handed out by film critics - the general public's taste.
This is the 22nd year the ceremony has taken place and it is often seen as one of the best indicators for how films will fare in awards season.
Over the last 10 years, eight of the Best Picture winners have gone on to take the same accolade at the Academy Awards.

While for Best Actor the Critics' Choice named 12 out of the 13 Oscar winners during that same span of years.
The annual awards ceremony also predicted, by choosing its own winners, eight Best Actress winners at the Oscars in that 13 year stretch.
This year the show was hosted by comedic actor TJ Miller.

Barry Jenkins' coming-of-age drama Moonlight and Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi thriller Arrival followed with 10 nominations, though each picture failed to math La La Land's take-home with both only nabbing two wins a-piece.
While Ali bagged his Best Supporting Actor gang, the film also scored a win for Best Ensemble, while Arrival nabbed Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Horror/Sci-Fi.

The FX drama won the Best Limited TV category as well as gongs for Courtney Vance and Sarah Paulson.

Manchester by the Sea scored heavily in the acting categories, though Casey's win for Best Actor and a tie with La La Land in the Best Original Screenplay category were its only wins.
Mel Gibson scored a nomination in the director category for Hacksaw Ridge, but failed to convert that to a win, though ti did snag Best Action and Best Action Actor for Andrew Garfield.
Dark action/comedy Deadpool rewarded lead actor Ryan Reynolds with a win for Best Actor in an Comedy Movie, while Marvel rival DC scooped a win with Margot Robbie bagging Best Action Actress for her role as Harley Quinn in the much derided Suicide Squad.
