'I'm on Grindr most weeks': Coldplay's Chris Martin jokes about using gay hookup app and calls Tinder 'a bit naughty'

He's notoriously private when it comes to his dating life.

But Chris Martin, 39, was happy to chat about dating apps during a radio interview on Thursday and at one point, he joked about using gay hookup app Grindr 'most weeks.'

The Coldplay frontman was asked whether he uses Tinder during a chat with KIIS 101.1's Matty Acton and Sophie Monk and his blunt response drew laughter.

'I'm not entirely sure what [Tinder] is ... but I know that it's a little bit naughty,' he said.

Model Sophie interjected with: 'Better not be Grindr, you heard of [it]?' to which the British rock star replied in jest: 'I'm on Grindr most weeks.'

The acclaimed musician, whose divorce from actress Gwyneth Paltrow was finalised this year, is currently on the Australian leg of his band's A Head Full of Dreams Tour.

On Tuesday, Coldplay performed their first Sydney concert to race reviews.

The four-piece band put on an energetic performance and halfway through the show, lead singer Chris brandished an Aboriginal flag and an Australian flag. 

Chris was wearing his signature tight jeans with a long sleeve white top and purple T-shirt.

He even placed the flags on top of his head as he strummed on his guitar. 

The father-of-two eagerly interacted with the crowd and encouraged them to sing some of their hits as he danced around stage.

They have previously played shows in cities including Melbourne and will play another show in Sydney on Wednesday evening, before heading to the UAE. 

Fans flocked to Twitter during the concert, with many gushing about watching them live. 

'All I can say is WOW WOW WOWWW!! Best concert I have ever seen, hands down! BRILLIANT! What a night to remember! #ColdplaySydney,' one fan wrote.

During Coldplay's Melbourne show on Saturday, Australian cricketer Shane Warne popped up on stage to play the harmonica. 

He was cheered on by the crowd and his good friend Chris, with Shane writing afterwards: 'Also, a huge thank you to the crowd for being so nice and cheering me when I played the harmonica (badly).' 

'You were all very very kind and awesome!,' Shane said.

He added about the rockers: 'Thank you to my good friends Chris, Will, Johnny & Guy for inviting me on stage with you last night. I'm very grateful for that amazing experience & was truely (sic) an honour to join you.'

Shane showed off his unexpected harmonica skills in front of 55,000 people at Etihad Stadium.
