A police officer who allegedly kicked his ex-fiancee's door down during a domestic dispute all while wearing his uniform has been charged.

Phillip Barresi, a rookie Atlanta officer from Jonesboro, was arrested on home invasion charges after allegedly storming into his former partner's family home on November 28.

Barresi, who had been on the force since March this year, forced his way inside the home in Locust Grove - about 40 miles southeast of Atlanta, WSB reports.

Once he got inside the house, he reached for his service weapon before his former partner's parents called police and he ran, according to the network.

Barresi told detectives he 'accidentally kicked the door open,' according to the police report, before saying he was 'extremely upset' that his ex had broken into his apartment before the incident.

The woman, who is a relative of a reporter with WSB, denied breaking into Barresi's home.

She insisted she had just moved out of the home and taken some of her baby's things.

A neighbor said he saw the young cop repeatedly banging on the front door of the house before kicking it in, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Barresi, according to the witness, went inside the house and emerged a short time later before shouting: 'f*** the police.'

Barresi has been placed on administrative leave until the case is resolved. He is due in court on Wednesday afternoon.
