'It eats away at you': Kate Gosselin tells TV's Dr. Oz that tabloids are damaging her health and 'dragging her down'

She's lived her life on camera thanks to her popular reality TV shows Jon & Kate Plus 8 and current spin-off Kate Plus 8, and graced the covers of countless tabloid magazines over the past decade.

But Kate Gosselin, 41, now says she's done with unwanted media intrusion into her personal life and that tabloids are damaging her health.

'I could live my whole life without them,' she told Dr. Oz, in an interview to air Thursday.  'This stuff just eats..... it drags you down. It eats away at you. It drains your physical energy.'

The mother of eight reveals on The Dr. Oz Show that she gets frustrated when people can't distinguish between the Kate Gosselin they read about in the tabloids and the reality of who she is.

'My life is my kids and there just wouldn’t be Kate Gosselin if it wasn’t for my kids. Everything I do for them. I mean, being on TV is not easy. Having tabloids written about you constantly is not easy,' she said. 

She and her now ex-husband have been tabloid fodder since TLC decided to make a show about how they were raising sextuplets along with two older twin daughters.

It began airing in 2007 catapulting the couple to instant stardom with all the perks that came with it.

But by 2009, their seemingly perfect marriage was in tatters following a strong of tabloid cheating stories and the two announced, on their reality show naturally, that they were getting a divorce.

TLC then gave Kate her own show as she raised her children as a newly single mom.

According to Vanity Fair, between March and October 2009, the Gosselins 'appeared on the cover of the major celebrity weeklies more than 50 times—more than any other celebrity.'

Following the split, Kate has remained in the media spotlight, appearing on Dancing With The Stars and Celebrity Apprentice while Jon has returned to working as a chef and trying to keep a low profile.

Yet despite her obvious frustration with existing in a the goldfish bowl of publicity, she still seeks it out as a way of making a living.

Season five of Kate Plus 8 began airing on TLC last month.
