Shirtless Adam Levine shows off his tattooed torso as he soaps up in the shower for Ferris Bueller spoof on The Voice

Alongside Blake Shelton he's been one of the mainstay stars on The Voice USA coaching panel.

But on Tuesday, hours before the season 11 grand final, it seemed that Adam Lambert didn't want to waste his time with promotional duties - choosing to take a day off instead.

In a parody of '80s coming of age hit, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, the  37-year-old Maroon 5 frontman decides to ditch a day of promotions ahead of the show's final.

Adam's Day Off: On Tuesday, hours before The Voice grand final, it seemed Adam Lambert didn't want to waste his time with promotional duties - choosing to take a day off instead

The Don't Wanna Know singer invited fans and viewers into the shower as he mimicked Matthew Broderick's character's iconic opening speech to the movie.

Opening with a recording of Adam explaining to his fellow coach Blake that he's too ill to do press, the real Adam emerges onto a balcony stood in a pink robe.

'How can I possibly be expected to handle press on a day like this?' the Maroon 5 rocker quips.

Strolling into the shower with nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist and head, Adam's impressive collection of tattoos are put on full display, alongside his muscular torso.

As he soaps in the steamy shower he explains his reasons for following Ferris' example and skipping work, before revealing that he doesn't hate the press, he 'just hates Blake Shelton'.

Mimicking the plotline of John Hughes' classic , Adam spends his days doing a series of random and fun activities, before realising he only has minutes to get to the studio for the grand final.
