Their comments came after they faced a backlash for the skimpy costumes they sported during their performance at the X Factor final on Sunday.

However their raunchy outfit change midway through the performance did not go down well with every member of the viewing public.

Taking to Twitter, some fans condemned the four-piece for stripping down to skintight leotards and fishnet tights.

'Wish #LittleMix would go back to the relatable image they had when they were on #XFactor. Don't get why they've had to "sex up" so much...' wrote one.

Little Mix were also criticised for costumes they donned for another X Factor performance earlier in the year, where some claimed they 'dressed like strippers'.

Following their performance, the Spice Girls' Mel C also blasted their ensembles, telling the Sunday People: 'I love Little Mix. I loved them from The X Factor. I just thought they were so different.

'But they are getting more provocative. To me, they were kind of the closest thing to the Spice Girls we’ve seen.

'They are all gorgeous and great singers. But they weren’t sexy and it’s got more and more that way. I love them – but I just say, "Stay you."'
