His 40-year-old wife shred a bittersweet photo of he husband on their way to what would be their last Christmas party together on Sunday.

'I've got the cutest designated driver EVER!!!!' she wrote as they made their way to Patron tequila founder John Paul DeJoria's soiree. 

'JP & @eloisedejoria sure know how to throw a party! Thx you for having us. #friendsforever #patron #family.'

His friend Chris Breed posted a picture of himself and Alan posing with Smokey Robinson and Jane Seymour; with a heavy heart he reposted the same picture two days later with a very different context.

'God bless Alan and Tanya and family.he is a great loss so to many he truly was the nicest man!' he wrote.

'I cannot believe this has happened I was with him on Sunday at JP party he was happy and looked Amazing.'

Indeed friends revealed he was joking around even as he was being stretchered away from the rink in an ambulance, telling them to take photos and insisting he would be fine, before passing away after reaching the hospital.

He is survived by Tanya, two ex-wives and his three children, including singer Robin Thicke.
