Queen Letizia of Spain made quite the impression at an awards ceremony in Madrid tonight.

The 44-year-old accompanied her husband King Felipe VI to the glitzy International Journalist Awards of ABC ceremony wearing a sparkly striped dress that isn't even available to buy yet.

She certainly stood out wearing the midi dress, which is from the Nina Ricci Resort 2017 collection and features sheer panels.

The Royals enjoyed a gala dinner at the event, organised by the ABC newspaper - the third largest in Spain, and backed by Spanish bank Abanca.

Queen Letizia was also on hand to present journalist Victoria Prego with a special award named after the newspaper's founder Luca de Tena.

Before her marriage to Felipe, Letizia was a news anchor for Spain's national news channel TVE, with whom she covered US Presidential elections, the 9/11 bombings and the Iraq War.

Letizia has been married to King Felipe VI, left and right with his wife, since 2004 and the couple have two daughters

The awards ceremony was organised by ABC, the third largest paper in Spain, and bank Abanca. Her surprise engagement to the then-Prince in 2003 was followed by their wedding in May 2004 at the Cathedral Santa María la Real de la Almudena in Madrid, the first Royal wedding to take place in the building.

She became Queen of Spain in 2014 upon her husband's ascension to the throne after the abdication of his father Juan Carlos I.

The couple have two daughters, Princess Leonor, 11, and Infanta Sofia, nine.
