She's a gorgeous actress, all action heroine and now about to become a big screen singer.

Ruby Rose is set to join Rebel Wilson in the third installment of the Pitch Perfect franchise to hit cinemas at the end of next year.

Having made a quickfire name for herself as the go to action girl in Hollywood, Ruby is set to emulate girlfriend Jess Origliasso and smash out the songs to establish her triple threat status on a global stage.

Already in full promotional mode for her role alongside Vin Diesel in XXX: Return of Xander Cage, Variety reports that Ruby is set to jump aboard a different kind of cinematic juggernaut, and get in on the acapela action.

Over the next 12 months Ruby will also explode onto the big screen with significant roles in John Wick: Chapter 2 and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, on the back of her role in Orange Is The New Black, and she's most recently been sizzling in and on the water for her role alongside Jason Statham in Meg - short for Megalodon or giant prehistoric shark.

The news that Ruby will ditch the action and head back to her musical roots to join the aca-pitches confirms a hint she posted on Instagram eight weeks ago.

Back in October, Ruby posted a snap of her smiling alongside Pitch Perfect star and producer Elizabeth Banks with the cryptic message 'This BABE is everything... what are we up to?'

The answer it seems was signing up for Pitch Perfect 3.

Banks, who also directed Pitch Perfect 2, was set to direct the third instalment as well but stepped back from the role in March to hand over to Trish Sie who previously directed Step Up: All In. Yet as producer she'd be the perfect person to pitch Ruby.

Fellow Aussie Rebel Wilson will return for the third film, as she confirmed on Ellen, as will Anna Kendrick who first confirmed the movie was going ahead in 2015 with a simple Instagram snap and the caption 'Happening #3'

The close knit Pitch Perfect cast are largely all expected to return, including Anna Camp, Brittany Snow and Hailee Steinfeld, having recently reunited for the real life wedding of Pitch Perfect co-stars Camp and Skylar Astin in September.

Banks will also reprise her role as the best acapela commentator of all time Gail.

Ruby should fit in with the tight-knit Pitch Perfect cast having bonded closely with her co-stars on her recent action flicks.

Details of Ruby's role are thin on the ground, but there is good news in terms of the rumours surrounding Rebel's character Fat Amy.

The aca-scuttlebutt suggests Rebel will be walking down the aisle with Bumper, sealing the deal on her on-again, off-again romantic interest from the last two films.

Pitch Perfect 3 is set for a December 22, 2017 release in North America which could spell an aca-Boxing Day sing along for Australia.
