Back to daddy day care: Eddie Redmayne resumes his fatherly duties as he takes baby Iris for a stroll after being honoured with an OBE

He's just been awarded the honour of an OBE after fighting his way to the top of the A-List and gainging critical acclaim.

Clearly enjoying some downtime away from the film set, Eddie Redmayne looked to have slipped into daddy day care mode as he looked after his baby daughter, Iris.

The 34-year-old Fantastic Beasts star looked every inch the doting dad as he took his six-month-old daughter for a walk around the British capital following his OBE honour.

Choosing to spend some quality time alone with Iris, his first child with wife Hannah Bagshawe, Eddie headed out for a quiet stroll on his own.

Pushing the tiny tot around in her pushchair, the Oscar-winning actor looked like any other first-time father.

The Jupiter Ascending star cut a casual figure on his outing, dressing down in a black jumper with a panther stitched onto the torso.

Despite his dressed-down vibe, the star still managed to turn a few heads as he strolled around town with his daughter - attracting some stares from a number of passing ladies.

He teamed the funky long-sleeved number with a white tee and a pair of skinny navy chinos, before rounding his look off with some comfy trainers.

Keeping things casual and practical, Eddie only wore a watch and a pair of shades.

Despite being a father to a newborn baby, the London-born star looked fresh-faced and rested.

Having taken in some of the capital's sights and sounds, the father/daughter duo headed back to Eddie's car and - presumably - made a move for home.

His outing with Irish came just two weeks after he capped off a stellar year by collecting an OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) from Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle, Berkshire in recognition of services to drama.

However it seems rather than letting her father get all rested for his bid day, Irish chose to keep the Eton-educated star up the night before.

At the ceremony Eddie admitted that while being a parent was 'wonderful', he was feeling a little sleep deprived on his big day because of his little girl.

'She does have the habit of knowing when you have a big day, like today', he sighed.

'And she was up until four in the morning, so both my wife and I came today with matchsticks under our eyes. Other than that she is on cracking form.'

Of his latest honour, he said: 'It was absolutely wonderful.

'Also being with such extraordinary people the whole experience is incredibly humbling and also getting to be in Windsor Castle is breathtaking, around Christmas as well with all the decorations.'

Pressed on what the Queen had said to him, the Danish Girl star said: 'She was asking me whether I prefer film or theatre, and asked me if I enjoyed it.

'I’m very lucky to do something I am passionate about - I’m very grateful to do something I love because it is a rare thing.'

Eddie said it was 'an extraordinary thing' to receive his OBE, adding: 'It is something that I had never thought of and it was never in my wildest imagination.'
