'I do love a gin and tonic!' Supermodel David Gandy reveals the surprising secrets behind his VERY muscular physique (but insists we'll never see him take a selfie)

  • Supermodel David, 36, is famed for his sculpted frame
  • The Essex model insists he indulges in burgers, roasts and booze
  • Insists he's not comfortable posting his private life on social media

He's one of the world's most famous supermodels and David Gandy has finally revealed the secrets behind his impressively toned physique.

David, 36, has insisted he indulges in burgers, roasts and booze - so long as he knows he can get to the gym to work it off.

Speaking to Joe Warner at Men's Fitness, the Essex model - who has his own fashion range with high-street giants Marks & Spencer - opened up on his fitness regime, and revealed why we'll never see him share a selfie.

David, 36, has insisted he indulges in burgers, roasts and booze - so long as he knows he can get to the gym to work it off

The supermodel admits: 'I have always been careful with what I eat, but I do think people would be shocked by how much I eat!'

The lean model insists he takes a simple approach to his exercise regime, adding: I focus on lifting in a high-intensity way, like in circuits.

'I prefer to use free weights, so my workouts are based around dumbbells, barbells or bodyweight moves.'

'One of the important things I say to people is that if you’re not enjoying training then you need to change it to something you do enjoy. It shouldn’t be a chore to go to the gym or train.'

However, diet plays a key role in the 36-year-old's regime. He admits: 'I have always been careful with what I eat, but I do think people would be shocked by how much I eat! But I don’t eat a lot of bad stuff.

The model said: 'Today everyone is posting every aspect of their life on social media, and they are very comfortable doing so – but I have never been comfortable with that'

'I eat a lot of lean protein, chicken and especially fish, and a lot of vegetables and salads. Protein balls are my go-to snack.

'But I will never shy away from having a good roast dinner or a lean burger – my approach isn’t as strict as people think.'

'I am a typical English guy so I love my booze: I love a gin and tonic, and love my whisky.

'You can’t eat exactly what you want, but so long as you are getting down the gym and having a good intense session, then you can be a little flexible with the foods you eat.'

David Gandy was speaking exclusively to Men’s Fitness magazine for their February issue, released nationwide today

But despite how much of his life is spent in front of a camera, David insists he won't share more than he has to on social media.

'I think some people are naturally OK with being in the public eye and like being the centre of attention,' he says.

The Men's Fitness February issue also features a free book: Get Lean In Just 28 Days

'Today everyone is posting every aspect of their life on social media, and they are very comfortable doing so – but I have never been comfortable with that.

'I have always kept it at a level where all my work and charity work is widely published and it’s on my social media accounts, but my private life is just that – private.'

He added: 'People ask me why I’ve never posted a selfie or a picture of family and friends.

'I find it weird when you’re an oddity for keeping your private life private! '
