Talk about specs appeal! Trendy Elle Fanning dons oversized tinted glasses as she goes for a stroll in New York

She is always on the bleeding edge of style.

And Elle Fanning was at her fashion forward best as she wore a pair of oversized tinted spectacles as she went for a stroll in New York on Thursday.

The 20th Century Women star certainly did not look behind the times as she headed out for lunch with her mother Joy Arrington in the trendy Soho area.

The 18-year-old beauty looked effortlessly elegant in a black woollen jacket, dress, tights and Dr Martens-esque boots. Elle rounded of her look with a fetching neckerchief.

Elle was no doubt enjoying a bit of respite from her promotional blitz pimping her new film Live By Night, a gangster picture starring, written and directed by Ben Affleck.

The saucy starlet made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday evening where she told a thrilling anecdote about a Beyonce concert she attended.

In an exciting twist, she discovered movie star hunk Channing Tatum sitting near her. So she took the opportunity to chat with him.

She said: 'We talked to him a little bit. He was with his wife (Jenna Dewan Tatum).' 

On Thursday Elle was seen in a blue and green dress with beige high heels as she attended the Today show.

Elle will be playing Loretta in the film Live By Night, hitting theaters this January.

Ben Affleck is her costar and the director of the film, which had originally been pitched to Leonardo DiCaprio.

The busy performer has a number of other films expected to be released in 2017, including How To Talk To Girls At Parties, Galveston and A Storm In The Stars.
