Rupert Murdoch and his new wife Jerry Hall were seen rubbing shoulders with Michelle and Barack Obama on Monday, weeks after schmoozing his successor Donald Trump.

The power couples posed for a portrait in at The White House that was shared online by Hall's daughter Lizzy Jagger.

They are understood to have been attending one of the annual holiday parties thrown by Obama for news broadcasters.

Accompanying the photograph, Jagger teased: 'Mommy for president 2020'.

It comes within weeks of Murdoch's meeting with president-elect Donald Trump.

The News Corp chief was spotted at Trump Tower in Manhattan last month as he began to assemble his cabinet.

Murdoch, 85, was seen leaving one of its gold laced elevators with Ivanka Trump on November 18.

Murdoch and president-elect Trump have enjoyed a friendly relationship since before his election win.

They were seen together golfing in June at Trump's golf course in Aberdeenshire, north east Scotland.

Murdoch was spotted at Trump Tower in November after president-elect Trump's election win. He was spotted leaving an elevator with Trump's daughter Ivanka

The News Corp mogul and his bride also visited Trump's golf course in Aberdeenshire, north east Scotland, in June

Trump was proud of the get-together, telling reporters at the time: 'I have Rupert Murdoch coming for dinner tonight.'

Murdoch was at first reluctant towards Trump's candidacy but began praising him as his chances at election victory improved.

In March he urged GOP figures to get on board with the billionaire's campaign.

Murdoch is now facing scrutiny from the British government after announcing plans to launch a takeover deal of Sky.

The Cabinet Minister is evaluating whether the deal, which would expand Murdoch's already gargantuan media portfolio, would put too much power in one company's hands.
