Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig team up with Hairspray composers and La La Land producer for new musical

An upcoming musical adaptation of the book Everything Is Coming Up Profits: The Golden Age Of Industrial Musicals has attracted a number of high-profile names to the project, most notably Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig.

Amblin Partners has purchased the rights to the project, according to Deadline, which will be produced by industry ace Marc Platt, who's put together films such as La La Land, Charlie St. Cloud and Legally Blonde; and his colleague, Adam Siegel.

The score will penned by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, the Grammy-winning composing duo behind musicals such as Hairpray, Catch Me If You Can and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Also on board is playwright Steve Levenson, who's racked up credits on projects like the book Dear Evan Hansen, which has been adapted into a Broadway musical; Showtime's Masters Of Sex; and the Michael Chiklis-Dennis Quaid program, Vegas.

The final deals for all involved are in ongoing talks, the outlet reported.

The book, which was written by Steve Young and Mike Murphy, and published in 2013, details how Broadway performers were a key element in industrial shows for more than 30 years.

The exhibitions were put on for the purposes of entertaining and teaching workers about products and getting them hyped up to sell them.

Signature companies such as Coca-Cola, Ford and J.C. Penney, among many others, were among the corporations to hold such exhibitions, in which Broadway artists would take to the stage and perform numbers that were originals or parodies of popular works, crooning about the actual products in many cases.

Among the more well-remembered of the niche included American Standard’s The Bathrooms Are Coming and General Electric's Go Fly A Kite, composed by the legendary duo of John Kander and Fred Ebb.

The musical will be released under the Amblin Entertainment banner in conjunction with Universal Pictures.

Strong foundation: Ace producer Marc Platt is attached to the adaptation as well. He was seen at a NYC premiere in October
