From pulling down a Christmas tree to batting at baubles, these cats have resolutely refused to enter the spirit of seasonal goodwill.

Owners shared their hilarious examples of feline troublemaking on social media in the run-up to December 25.

Afterwards she slunk away from the scene of her crime, seemingly unconcerned at the destruction caused.

In another amusing video, a black cat manages to climb to the top of a tree located in the family living room.

Playful Jordy was undeterred by the presence of her owner Dean Burroughs, from Missouri, when she was caught clambering up the branches.

After pawing the peak into her mouth, the kitten finally managed to climb over the lights and plant her front and back paws on either side of the pine peak.

Following 10 seconds of majestically posing as the focal festive decoration, Jordy loses her footing and tumbles down a few branches before composing herself.

Another cat was slightly less brazen in his trouble-making, attempting to hide out of view behind some tinsel.

But when this clearly failed he decided to enjoy himself anyway, and started batting away at the baubles.
