Anna Faris pays $5k fine after her emaciated rescue dog was found homeless... five years after Chris Pratt tried to give their cat away on Twitter

Anna Faris has coughed up a check to settle a $5,000 fine after her pet dog was found homeless.

The 39-year-old actress was hit with the penalty after her Chihuahua named Pete - that she adopted from Kinder4Rescue four years ago - was found emaciated and wandering the streets in North Hollywood, California last month.

The actor's husband, Chris Pratt, also caught flack in 2011 for trying to give their family cat away on Twitter.

Before and after: Pete was found looking emaciated in North Hollywood in November

Laurel Kinder, who runs the Kinder4Rescue center, addressed Faris on the organization's official Facebook page.

'The puppy you adopted from us years ago was found starving on the street. Someone brought it into a vet, scanned the microchip, we've been calling you for days, no return call,' she wrote.

'Did you read your contract about giving our dogs away and the $5,000 fine?'

Social media shaming: The North Hollywood shelter's owner, Laurel Kinder, said that Anna Faris signed a contract upon adoption, in this since-deleted Facebook post from November 19

The post, which has since been deleted, went on to say: 'If you were panicking looking for your lost dog you certainly would've contacted us or the microchip company. I'm not sure what you're guilty of that this dog ended up in this condition, you signed a four page contract.

'How does this dog end up on the street Anna?  Being a celebrity does not excuse you from following the rules or respecting the rescue you adopted the dog from, or abiding the contract.

'This is why people are not allowed to give Kinder4Rescue dogs away they have adopted from us because they become disposable, get passed around and end up on the street like this.'

Pets: The couple apparently also have (or had)  cats

This isn't the first time the family has been shamed on social media for their animal care choices.

When Pratt, 37, made a joke on Twitter about whether any of his followers would like to take in their aging cat, he was met with death threats.

This incident took place just over five years ago, at which time Pratt reportedly said he found the cat a good home.

About Pete being found, Anna's representative previously said: 'Anna is thrilled that the dog has been found, and is ensuring all necessary arrangements are made to bring the dog home.'

It's not clear at this time whether Pete will return to the Faris-Pratt home or whether he will be available for adoption by another family.

Happier times for Pete: Faris was seen walking her dogs with husband Chris Pratt in September 2012
